Bangers & Smash
« on: January 15, 2010, 08:54:01 AM »

Hello,

Got a couple of part made clefts (when i say part made i probably mean most of the way) of Glen Murphy, moved one onto a mate straight away and kept the other one to go under my knife. The result, i'm pretty happy with. Not sure exactly on the wieght, kitchen scales dont seem to be all that reliable, but reckon its about 2'8 2'9ish, feels pretty nice. eventually might get stickered up to Bangers & Smash.

the willow isnt the cleanest you'll ever see, but stil nice, bit of a butterfly stain just bellow the middle. some would say thats the shizz.

Round up, happy with the weight, happy with the pic up, happy with the middle and i expect it to improve with wide grains taken into account.

Happy days, Thanks Glen.

Bat looks a stormer - great profile and nice work on the finish....you must be pretty chuffed!!

Never seen that type of handle before - does glen make his own handles that you know of?

Not to sure, But i think he said some where in our communications he imports them. Still not happy with the finish, on the back of the bat, the face come up good after the oiling though.

Im not happy with the way the back of the bat finishes after just sanding it, I'm looking at getting a Calico Disc polisher and Beeswax.

I've tried beeswax before - didnt work at all for me, even with a high powered buffing wheel - might suggest trying something else.

Anyone got any buffing compound for sale?

I know where to get some. I have got this information from James at Fusion, and it works pretty well. PM if you would like any more information.

Are you going to go into 'proper' batmaking, or are you keeping it recreational
