I disagree with Shazad. When iv'e seen him he seems to be a bit wayward and inconsistent.

Agreed. Why isn't Bopara in the squad. He would have made runs thus boosting his confidence

Shahzad is a very good cricketer, bowls briskly with generally good consistency, swings it a bit both with new and old ball and is more than capable of getting runs. I was disappointed that Rashid or Wainwright from Yorkshire weren't called up to the squad either. Will everyone actually play a part during that series or is going to be another watch and bowl in the nets scenario?

Bopara hasnt been scoring big runs in NZ county cricket Ashvir! Simple as that. He barely bats at all in their OD (apart from an 89) or T20 side (Auckland). In fact last time i checked when Shah and Bopara played each other Shah scored 65* from 27 balls! He sounds in good nick.

seems like they have dragged Rashid around a bit. Given him the odd game here and there. But this was a perfect oppurtunity for him to show the selectors his talent and was surprising of his ommision from the squad.
Dont see why Bopara should be recalled, whats he done to warrant a selection recently?
