Wonder if Spartan will actually pay money to the Rhino charities for them! They're notoriously bad at paying their sponsored players!!

Such a shame the ECB can't do something like the big bash. 30k watching, proper family event and on free to air TV so will just keep growing. English cricket needs something like this to get the crowds in.

We do, it is called the Nat west blast, we just don't have grounds that hold 30k people.

Even of we did have a city franchise we still don't have the grounds that hold 30k

they can do something, they just hav'nt because it involves a gamble. The ECB is sitting on about 70 million approximately at the moment which is anyone's books is a lot of cash.

take 2 weeks out of our summer, our government to suspend Visa's for overseas players, put it on the BBC or Channel 4, and hold the matches at the major grounds starting 5 or 6pm and get all the Counties to buy into it with a profit share of the tournament. In return every single British player is available for the matches-as well as any overseas stars that want to come over.

Most grounds half empty apart from finals day or the odd Friday. On Sky TV so half the country can't see it.

absolutely has to be free-to-air.

everyone else is right we have it wrong.

Sky will kill cricket in the long run. Giles Clarke's legacy.

The problem is the counties, any time it goes for a vote the counties vote against it. Don't see it changing any time soon. Players like Chris lynn and abD would rather go to the CPL

correct they do..... but why?  because all the gamble is with them so they are risk-averse.

As I said, the ECB is sitting on Fort Knox.

it needs backing    :)

If it's going to happen I'd back BT sport to do it, with half the games on channel 5. Didn't the IPL want to play a few games in England a few years back and the ECB blocked it. Seems like the ECB doesn't want the big names to come and play

Not sure I'd want to get into bed with the IPL. The alleged corruption alone would be more than enough to put me off. The press, media and this forum would take the ECB to task a la Stanford and it would be a pr disaster. I don't blame them at all for that.

You watch someone like Chris Lynn blasting it out of the stadia and then you have to wonder why he didn't get a go in the Australian Test side. His f/c average is nearly 45, better than Ferguson, Maddinson and Cartwright.
