Very thin crack from bottom the the back of toe
« on: December 30, 2016, 11:55:31 PM »

Hi guys,

I have  NB DC1080 limited that has a very thin crack going through the toe towards the back up to the NB sticker as per attached pics....
Is this a very serious cause of concern? Do I need to somehow super glue it or is adding a toe glue and some fiber tape across the bottom of the bat OK?

It's a little hard to see but if that crack is showing through the back of the blade then it's cause for concern, I would be returning it to the retailer for inspection.

Yes it's showing through to where the bottom NB sticker is, just that thin line.

Can't tell anything from the pics but if a  crack no matter how small as gone  right through a blade it's a course for concern as it will only get bigger

I agree with what's been said already, dependent how long you've had it best to send pictures or take it back to your retailer and see what they say. If it's outside of warranty then it will need a pretty big repair glueing and rather a lamitoe or doweling I'd imagine

Thanks guys I've only had it for 2 months so I'll take it back and see what they'll do... it's the GCCC, hopefully they can get it fixed up...

This is pretty much terminal. They can slow the inevitable, but that bat is gone. The best case is glueing and clamping, but then it will only be good as a net bat, as performance will dwindle.

Here is Julian Millichamp discussing this (9:50 onwards): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_e3AFndzmM&t=528s

Ah, that's a shame. Being a Limited I bet it was ruddy expensive. Not too bad if it's under warranty.

As a few have said, cracks that go front to back are nearly always terminal. Hope GCCC can sort something for you.

Yep I've watched that, it seems mine is from all the way from the face of the bat to the back, it just seems to be from the toe to the back...

But if it is gone then I dunno what to say, so freaking sad  :( :( :(
Yeah only had it for 2 months and hitting in the nets :(

Few seam marks around the toe. Minor crack in the edge. I'm worried they may say you've under-prepared it. Hopefully not.

The minor crack is in the heartwood, so if you see someone with some common sense they'll know it's naturally more brittle than sapwood.

As for saying it's under prepared because there are a couple of seam marks, that would be a total cop out in my opinion

Tough one this in theory does a toe have a warranty as it a false shot unfortunately.(seem marks knocked in or not).

Seen worst fixed and play very well.

Not what you want to hear you may get lucky ,

I hope you do buddy
