So tonight I believe the bat gets it's finishing - thanks for all the tips & help
Whilst I am awaiting on the official Quantock Cricket graphic design team (his wife) it will get some blankbats stickers as it is a chimera of their B-Oz with some of older style M&Hs

Just need to be better at cricket and all is set for 2017 - well after copious amounts of knocking in

Na, I believe this is an actual pic that has been digitalized using apps such as Prisma

So my bat has been finished - knocked in, netted with and @jamesisapayne kindly made some final tweaks to lose some weight (in return for some good cheeses & breads) and It is fairly to say I am very pleased with it all.
So with an original cleft (via John at Red Ink) James has given the full extra mile custom bat experience (in his hobby as Quantock Cricket), this includes tea/coffee and sweeping up your own shavings.
Weight 2.9 (and a tiny bit)
Edges 40mm
Spine 54mm
High Middle - the swell peaks at 230mm from toe
9 straight(ish) grains with some little marks that I am assured 'add character' ;-)
Goes well under mallet and in nets but needs a little more time before it reaches it's peak I reckon
He has added genuine Newbery stickers whilst he waits for the Quantock Cricket ones to be finalised
I just hope I can do it justice for him.

I have also acquired a lovely MRF that is get it's first run out at nets on Friday... incredibly grainy

Thanks a lot for the review mate, hope it scores lots of runs for you. It's a nice looking cleft, and while it's a little harder sounding than some others I've made, I'm 100% sure once it's opened up it's going to be an absolute gun.

It's the 5th bat I've made now and I'm really enjoying the whole process and seeing a great lump of wood transform into a bat using nothing but hand tools is such a great feeling, especially when I see people netting with bats I've made and tonking it to all parts!

They were top notch. You missed out there. I particularly liked the distinction inspired bat. The clefts were sourced from a good place too.

Good stuff! Still regret not having a proper look at your bats at the net the other day. Next time!

For sure, I was hoping we could squeeze another net in before the season starts. Could be a possibility.

Thanks James :)

I'm going to rework the toe on that bat though as it still feels too chunky!

I'd be up for another before the season! As I said before, was impressed with the bats, look forward to seeing more, plus stickers when that comes!
