I think the things children see on a daily basis through all sources of media will have exposed them to over sexualised images of women long before this, plus it's a joke, it's a cartoon style image and can be seen not to be serous not my personal cup of tea but I appreciate the idea

Thank you both for your honesty, and this is the whole point! As an industry cricket can comparatively be extremely conservative, so it's up to brands to produce items that provoke more emotional responses.

Fun but not really appropriate.

On the tattoo theme, maybe an arm guard with a big heart on it with an arrow through and scrolls with Mam and Dad around it?  ;)

Is this another "joke" like the see-thru pads?

I think it is in poor taste and cricket world doesn't need such an overly-sexualized display on a cricket bat. Our club now has kids, pre-teens, in attendance for cricket games. Sometimes there are wives and children that tag along with dads w/occasional team participation by a wife or a daughter. What kind of a message are we sending to them? This sticker would be offensive to them.

Sad!

Oh boy, where to start. We have had scantily clad dancers at t20 matches for a decade now. Should they be banned lest a woman is offended? There is nothing sexual about the image, if you think there is, I'm afraid that rather projects your mindset rather than a problem inherent to the artwork. Perhaps women should cover up and stay at home, right?

'What kind of message are we sending to them?'

We are not, it is a picture on a cricket bat. If you are so concerned, may I draw your eye to those places in the world where a woman may still be killed for the crime of being raped? If you have anger and vitriol, it could be aimed elsewhere far more productively.

'This sticker would be offensive be to them.'

To them, or to you? What makes you think you can speak for all women?

Surely there are greater problems to get uppity about.

Are they wearing a thong bikini or scantily clad? Big difference between cheer leaders in a sporting event and kids in a local game gawking at someone's bat. I must say that those cheer leaders look lame; all the color and light looks cheap/plastic. You know what I am saying.

Are you ok with your daughter at a cricket ground looking at such a cricket sticker? May I draw your eyes to places where women are raped in a bus or tourists raped after being drugged? Your self-righteous, and binary indignation could be better aimed elsewhere far more productively.

Considering a family environment we project, to them. Now, what makes you say you can speak for all women and what they like? Are you an expert in women's like? Are you a woman? Victoria Secret model?

Cant take it home/show it to wife/kids for sure..

Unlike what someone said, scantily clad cheergirls and a batsman using this bat are quite different, in the former, it has got nothing to do with the batsman unlike the latter..

I think its ace, for the record, my misses loved it and was not even slightly offended. In fact its the first time i can remember her ever being interested in a cricket bat. Which is the point right?

I really do seem to have hit a nerve here, so apologies for the unintentional derail.

Most of your response is just you repeating the points I made in an illogical fashion, but I will take you up on one thing. I have two daughters, 8 and 14. Both come along to my matches. The 8 year old spends her time playing cricket with the other kids of her age, and although the 14 year old is getting a bit too 'cool' to come much these days, I can assure you that neither of them would be remotely interested in a sticker on a piece of wood, let alone offended.

For me this works as a one off, an artwork rather than a serious foray into bat making for the masses. Not sure that people use modern critical theory much when they're buying a bat! but it's certainly interesting to see a different take and not just going for bland variations on a theme.  Perhaps apply the theory in a less divisive way? Keep the concept of interweaving a story into the sticker design I really like that.

Right - my opinion? I love the art work but I do love art anyway so it appeals to my artistic side.
It is like a tattoo and is a little cheeky so don't think many people would honestly find it offensive!!
Would I have a bat with it on? Maybe for fun in the nets, but I am determined to have at least closely matched bat/softs (FKW) this season.

I did ask the missus who is a lot better brought up that I am! So was nice to get her opinion!!
She doesn't like tattoos so wasn't keen on it. She did not find it offensive though - sexual or otherwise.
