I think King Viv had his own DF VR 5* for a short time. I also remember one shop stocking a DF Rapier. I think the attachment so many have to the brand is that, simply,they were huge back in the day. And the fact that the fall from grace was huge, tragic even.

Gooch was SS after many years with Fearnley. He ended his career using Slazenger, possibly because they had bought SS.
