tom youre in the business. now don't get me wrong, I don't object to paying for my cricket equipment, if I did, I wouldn't have any.I don't particularly like the price of modern day bats but that's just how it is-they are expensive.

but have you ever wondered have great it would be as a pro cricketer for someone to come and ask you to use their bats? and then have a few bats made exactly how you like it. And then for the batmaker to be happy his kit gets advertising?

surely that's got to be a great feeling....and at the top end, actually to get paid for using free kit...

In my experience, it rarely happens that a brand approaches a player out of the blue. Usually, agents sniff around brands seeing what they can get (whether that's kit only, kit + cash, kit+bonuses). No doubt the regular deliveries of free equipment would be quite amazing.

Interestingly, with Sam Northeast I have a feeling he cares about the craftsmanship, seein as he's used Salix, Newbery and now Keeley.

Ah I see.....

Salix sponsored Northest as a junior and all the way thru until he went to Slazenger

One of the first cricketers to use Salix I saw anyway on the TV. I can't off the top of my head remember any others although they made for many pro's underneath the stickers.

Before this gets out of hand and I get in trouble as everyone who ever mentions this topic does I haven't got anything to do with Tim and I never intended this to be a 50 man parade into tims gaff playing with his toys
If he sets up his own bit on the side and if he opens his workshop to the public I might ask him then what can be done but I don't have anything to do with him I've just bought a few bats off him before (as has half the forum I assume)
