The Best refurb'rs in the biz
« on: April 03, 2017, 09:38:56 AM »

So most companies offer a refurb service for bats but they all cost different amounts and the quality of work I would assume differs from company to company.

I was wondering which service you guys have used in the past and which is the best in terms of value for money and quality of the refurb itself.

I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

Not a huge fan of refurbing bats myself to be honest so not sure i'll have much input on this thread. I tend to do them myself If I can.

I did have a Salix refurbed last year, superb job they did the bat came back in wonderful condition-that was £50.00

I have just done a new bat that had some pressing cracks but that was really easy to do.

If anyone asks me about refurbs or asks me to get one done for them, I would get in touch with Tom Line.

A mate has just split his Amplus and to repair the split and a refurb he has sent it to them, they have quoted £30.00 to repair the split and refurb which I thought was great value

Have had Robert James Cricket do a RFB and re-handle, which came back looking better than new.

Also seen Helygen on twitter do some pretty good refurbs.

It depends on whether keeping the original stickers is important to you. To be honest removing all the existing stickers, sanding, polishing and oiling is a fairly simple service. Sanding around the original stickers is far more skilled and time consuming.
I had my NV rehandled by h4l about 18 months ago. They did a brilliant job and it came back looking like new. If it wasn't a h4l to begin with I don't think they would have applied the stickers, and I think many bat makers have a similar policy.

I think that's half the battle to be honest.  Whether you would like stickers to match the original bat?!  If so, for the likes of GM, GN, Kook and many more you will have to send to them for the refurb which will undoubtedly cost you more than sending elsewhere.  This still doesn't guarantee what you want as I've recently found with GM & Newbery who no longer had the stickers in stock for the actual bats I was getting refurbed.
