Today's league game had everything.
Opposition scored 232 which was in part to one of our main bowlers actually refusing to bowl because the captain he had not opened with him. My efforts brought me 4-49 off 11 overs and after dropping an absolute dolly, I then took one of the worst catches you'll ever see. I completely missed the ball with my hands but it somehow lodged between my thighs.
Our reply got off to rapid start but real talking point of the first few overs was the sportmanship of the opposition after I had given out our opener LBW. 2-3 of the fielders close to the bat immediately shouted it's not out (he had apparently hit it) and asked me to reverse my decision. Our innnings was seemingly heading to 75% until aforementioned bowler finally stopped sulking, strapped on his pads and went crazy hitting 50+ in around 20 deliveries.
With just 12 to win, 3 overs left and 4 wickets in hand, we were on course for what looked an unlikely victory but a flurry of late wickets meant we collapsed to 222 all out. I was the last man out trying to launch the ball for 6 but only managed a feeble top edge which was gleefully held their keeper. Still it was a very exciting match and as disappointed as I was, I don't begrudge losing to a team who play cricket with the honesty they showed today.
