Keep going Malcolm! Not playing any preseason and not netting every week means it's taken me 3 games to hit my straps!

Stick in there man, the runs will come!

Thanks for the encouragement, I wish I had that excuse having invested in my pre season coaching so I felt better prepared than most seasons. Perhaps I should have spent my money on new kit after all ;)

I know how you feel. I'm having the worst start to a season I can remember, 5 innings and haven't got out of single figures once. What's making it worse is that I don't even know what kind of form I'm in any more, last 2 knocks I've attracted balls that have bounced and kept low so feeling a sense of injustice - first 4 balls I faced yesterday I felt good but ended up walking off wondering what just happened. I feel like giving it all up at the moment.
It didn't help that we suffered a horrible defeat. Kept a weak Thames Ditton side down to 119 on a decent track which was probably 20 too many, but then collapsed to 9 for 4 and 43 for 9 before the last wicket pair shamed the rest of us to reduce the margin of defeat.
wouldn't allow that  type of getting out to get too you   As for form if you feel good  and know what you are capable of its probably  as simple as getting a break and the runs will come.

Hard fought game against a stronger team yesterday. Managed to keep them to 158-7 off 42 reduced after rain.

Have rarely played against a better bowling side, we the top 3 fought hard to give the hitters a platform, got out and the skipper sends out our veteran keeper who proceeded to block out 6 overs. Really frustrating – for the first time Shane Warne's lose to win horse made sense.

Great spirit in the game though, good luck to them for the rest of the year.

You were stone dead, one of the easiest lbw's your ump will have all season.
I knew I was a gonner, I was virtually walking!

Felt like the ball was coming out nicely so thanks :) Would have liked it if Asif hadn't ruined my figures, first wrongun I tried was the last ball that disappeared over long on!

He was always going to try and end it like that. Knowing him I don't think he would have picked it.

Another defeat and I want to crawl into a grave.

Dropped two dollies but took a good one. Had them 80-8 and they put up 167. Cue me going in at 38-7 and spending 12 overs just blocking them out for a laugh.

Thank God I'm away for a month, I can take a loss but 5 on the spin is just getting to me...

Well the good news on Saturday was I top scored in our innings. The bad news was I only got 12. We were all bowled out for 36 which is a career low point for any team I've played in (28 years of competitive cricket). Was home by 4pm and sat at the cinema to watch the new King Arthur movie by 5pm. A complete waste of a day. To give the opposition credit (one of their bowlers took 8-9) they were just different class. Many more tough days ahead this season. I wonder if Tino fancies a run out in our 3XI...for his normal £10,000 and 3 cans of Lilt per game  ;)

We played a reduced over game, something that wasn't that easy to sort out despite both captains being happy to do so.

We had played the same team in the league a few weeks before, their opener is very good and picked up where he left off last time but the wet wicket and a good ball saw him only get 30. We restricted them to 126/9 off 30. Our chase was pretty uneventful. Reached the target with a few overs to spare. I was down as 6 but we only lost 3 wickets. Not the best day to be waiting for an hour and a half to bat in the freezing cold.

My keeping was OK but I missed a couple of difficult stumping chances that I snatched at. Legside yorker between stumps and pads, my hands were there but not soft enough. Took a skier, I made sure I called loud and often to avoid being crashed into by another fielder (as happened 4 weeks ago) and drop it.

Played last year's league winners and came out with a 100 run victory. Joint top scorer with 45 in 91 partnership that took the game away from the oppo. 40 odd for 3 when I came in and given our batting record it could have gone badly but thankfully it didn't and we ended up posting 165 from a reduced 35 overs.

They lost quick wickets for next to no runs and never bothered to chase it. Our opener took 3 wickets for 2 runs in his 7 overs. Our inconsistency needs to cease if we are to  make a league push

First game for me tomorrow after missing the last two ( one caused by a a dodgy plumber and one due to the rain) and  it's gonna be hot and we only have 8 players hope we bat first don't fancy chasing the ball for upto 50 overs then having to open the batting.

Yeah let's hope so senior, the sort of toss as a captain you never want the walk back to team mates if you have lost. Many a time thou everyone has been whoopin at a won toss to get rolled over for 100 all out on a plum track in the boling heat!!

Potentially I could be facing 55 overs in the field tommorow after which my old bones will be cracking, is anyone else potentially facing longer than 55 overs in the field  tommorow ?

Tell me someone is I might feel better  :)
