Got my first league run in a month! Solid 1* off two before a declaration on 251/7 off 48. Skipper got a quality 105. Took the old ball, several drops early on but after about 15 overs the oppo dropped anchor, including one guy who only hit one ball off the square in about 20 overs. Got 3/37 off 15 but not sure about maidens. C&b their skipper with one of my colts doing his best to put me off as it was nailed back between us, he dived in front of me so I saw it late and had to dive. Got their opener caught on the cow boundary off a googly (full toss) and the other wicket was caught at mid on with an agricultural heave. They ended up 95/8 from 46, we should have won. Irony that the oppo are leaving our league to play a higher level - if they play like that in the Thames Valley League and it's supposed higher level they will be slaughtered.

Div 4 TVL is weaker than Div 1 Chilterns with exception of, this season, Littlewick, Pinkneys and Penn.

White Waltham are probably a mid-table div 4 side at best in TVL to be honest whilst the other 3 clubs moving across would be somewhere between bottom half of div 2 to top half of div 3. All clubs are going into div 4 from docs I've seen although it's possible White Waltham might go to div 5 as lowest Chilterns side.

White Waltham are an annoying side to play against. When we played them at home they were quite vocal about our declaration of 280 being very generous, which against one of the top sides at home it probably would have been. They blocked the proverbial out of it and crawled to 150 off 55 overs or something ridiculous.

Not every game of cricket is the same. A good team should find a way to win. With everyone out there must have been plenty of 2s on offer for instance.

Agreed. If you're going along at 10-12 an over, which you should be doing pretty easily with 9 men on boundary, then fielding skip might change field and consequently create space on the boundary.

Answered an SOS from our 2nd team today as has our sat game was called off Thur night and with the wife working I answered,

Bowled 10 overs 10-4-3-34 which I was really pleased with and getting back into this medium pace bowling lark. Then batting wise played a lovely leg side glance of the face of the bat jogged down the other end for one and saw umpire with his finger up after the slightest of appeals from square leg and was given out LBW. Complete joke.

Oppo scored 209/6 we replied with 139 AO good to see 4 under 14's hold there own with he bat for a while

Reasonable game against our local rivals today, made it six wins in seven over them in my tenure as Sunday captain.

Won the toss and batted. Opener got a pretty slow 50, retired hurt in the 36th over after pulling a hammy going for his 50. One of my lads got 84, others got 30s and we ended up 238/4. I didn't bat as I put myself at ten. Took the new ball and bowled four overs of seam up to start, first ball hopped from outside off to be a wide outside leg so I stuck to cross seam after that! Got some good pace up, managed a couple of military medium bouncers! Their openers put on 108 before one of the lads took three wickets in four overs. Brought myself back on with 14 to go, bowled their remaining opener first up, ended up with three wickets in four, two bowled one lbw. Also got a catch for an old mates first wicket in six years, also his first game since an acl reconstruction. Ended up with a nice win by about 50, I'm not sure exactly as one of the oppo messed up the books!

Managed to play three games this weekend, winning them all as well!

Friday - U19's T20, batted first scored 150-5. I went in 7 and faced 1 ball which was a wide we ran a single off and scored no runs. Also had a bowl 2-0-12-0 which wasn't too bad as I came on near the end and their batsman was in at this point, they ended 142-7.

Saturday - League game away versus St.Fagans, which was us at top of the league vs them at the bottom of the league, they won the toss and batted first and we bowled them out for 127 then chased it down in 30 overs for 2 wickets lost. Bowled 4-0-12-0. @richthekeeper 's old club did us a favour with the weather at their ground calling their game versus Newport off meaning we take a 21 point lead at the top of the table with three games to play. One of which is Panteg and one that's Newport who are second on the last day of the season!

Sunday - 3rd team T20 cup finals day, played in the first semi, bowled first and limited the oppo to 90-9 on a slow damp track, we chased it down for 3 wickets lost, manged to come in and score 16* off 10 balls or so. Also took 2 wickets, which should've been three if not for a dropped catch. Ended with 4-0-14-2. The final was then rained off which was gutting, will have to be played next sunday now instead.

This week got a ball back of a length that didnt bounce due to a soggy pitch, was going well until that point. Very frustrating.

Saw the asessment team yesterday amonst other things Had a camera up the nose yesterday no lasting damage from injury the bigger problem is the infection as spread  now on antibiotics and penicillin tablets have to return to hospital tomorrow if infection is not clearing up consultant will cut open nose injury and drain infection under local anasectic.
Can't see me being fit for anymore league matches  but hoping to make the cup quarter final last Sat in August.

Gah, Alan - well, at least there's no lasting damage. I'm sure your wife will have the odd thing you can do around the house instead...

Good but frustrating win today by six wickets.
Lost toss and bowled, had oppo 68/6. They ended 151ao, with three catches being dropped off me, at extra cover, slip and keeper. Some absolutely awful batsmen had a hack, couldn't read me but connected with their slogs and I ended up 0/48 off nine. We chased it well, skipper got 44, protégé got 30 some, finished in plenty of time.

Skipper has apologised for his bad drop at cover, but both frustrating for me but good to beat a not particularly pleasant side quite heavily.

Got questioned as to why I'm not planning on driving home each weekend to play next season. Games like today are why I am definitely not and am planning on joining Ansty whether they get relegated or not.

Triggered again for a 2nd shocking LBW 2 weeks on the trot.

Lost the toss and oppo chose to bat soon looked like a bad decision from there skipper at 15-2 then the gun bat nicked off a huge top edge off a cut shot straight into my gloves bat stands there and umpire looks at the floor, he top scores with 45odd anyway oppo 130 all out.

In reply 4th ball of 2nd over inside edge onto my pad about 5ft down outside off tiny mumour from a fielder behind the bat and umpire raises his finger, pure cheating as this is same umpire who stared at floor for the nick from there bat ( curse of our leagues top bat again, every player that has been top has been LBW for nothing in there neat game) anyway numbers 1&3 put on 80 to get us to 80/1 at drinks, collapse after sees us then at 106/7 until bats 8&9 see us home and guarantee promotion for a 2nd season.

I have 2 weeks off now until last game which should decide who finishes 1st and 2nd as we play each other last game of season, we are top by 12 points but they have a game in hand

Last week I played a long way forward to a ball approx 2 ft outside off. Ball came in a little and hit my pad instead of bat. If I could of laid my bat down in a straight line to the stumps it was missing by a foot and a half. League umpire, our league umpire, gave it out. He said I was on the walk but I was firmly planted as they guy wasn't any more than medium. Every sympathy Chris!.
