The 1st XI were called off early so I dropped out to let so wine else have a game in the 2s

I've lost all interest to be honest. The 2nd XI are already relegated and it's got rather monotonous turning up and getting dicked every week with nobody seeming to care.

Rather pleased I sacked it off actually, sat outside a garage 5 minutes from the ground and it's raining again...

Sat in a cottage in Wales  (It's lovely thanks for asking) missing out on our last league game of the season. If we win we get 2nd and depending on who scores what I could end up top scorer. It's killing me not getting regular updates!

Batted first, had to open as our usual openers were away. Ended up batting 50 balls for 5 runs as carnage ensued at the other end. We were 20-5 when i departed but finished 89 AO.
To make things worse i was pinned on the toe by their young quick and my nail has gone bright purple! Struggling to walk

They chased it down without loss in 11 overs. I bowled 3 overs 0-30. Though that feels harsh as i almost had their batsman who made 50 out twice in my first over. First he edges one that landed about an inch from his stumps and then he chipped one to the leg side that our keeper couldn't get to. I then got hit for two 6's in my last two balls to finish the game. Annoying considering they were good line and length  :( :D

my season if officially over today. Re-aggravated an mcl injury i picked up a couple of years ago playing rugby last week in a friendly. Thought it felt alright earlier in the week so gave the ok for today. Lasted 3 balls before my knee caved in and i was rolling around on the floor in the middle of the wicket in pain..... again smh. Since this all started the first time I used my brand new H4L Warbird that i picked up at vitas a couple of weeks ago im starting to think the bats cursed.....

On Thursday I got a 2 balls duck in the lms. The. After found out I was picked in the league overal seasons dream team for batting. So ups and downz

Today we was inserted in a rain effected shortened game (30 overs each) . And I got run out backing up to far, good work from the bowler.
I was on 37..... From just 12balls.

We finished 158 for 8.
Opposite we're bowled out for 82, they were 30 odd for 7 at one point. With our opener away, our normally 3rd changer bowler opened and was swinging it round corners and got a 5 for. Cracking spell.

3 games left, 8 points of top, with them yet to play.

I didn't play today as had my daughter but we won our 8th straight match to ensure promotion for 2nd consecutive season which is now roughly were we should be league wise. 2 more games to see if we can get top of league as 2nd currently with 2 promoted and 2nd now assured.

My original match was conceded by opposition around 6pm yesterday so put myself in our league's player pool and waited to see what offers came in. Best one came in around 8.30pm which was to play against my former side.

Didn't get a bat as we knocked up 220-5 and I was batting either 8 or 9 but still opted to pad up to keep warm.

Bowling wise, I came on first change and got a wicket in my second over with a quite bizarre delivery. I bowl little outswingers and with an absolute gale blowing across the ground, I was quite insistent on which end I wanted to bowl from to assist this outswing. Anyhow this particular delivery started so far down the leg side that the batsman decided to leave it but it must have caught a powerful gust of wind that it swung right behind the batsman's legs and hit middle stump. Got the skipper caught at mid wicket a couple of overs later and the opposition then collapsed to 68 all out.

Bowled them out for 70odd. Knocked them off 1 down. Still top of the table but need to win the last two games to guarantee promotion.

Won a friendly this afternoon despite putting down around 8 catches when we were fielding. However, we still restricted the opposition to only 167 off 35 overs and we knocked it off with 2 overs to spare. Mind you I think some of our lads thought we had lost this match after a slow start to our run chase. As I have said before, Sundays are always a bit of a chess game trying to ensure everyone fully participates and this week I decided to pack the lower order with our main batsmen to come in after the main 2 bowlers had bowled out. Today it came off perfectly with 9 of our team batting and 10 bowling with those who got fewer overs batting higher up. Hopefully, everyone left happy.

Played a friendly today
Lovely ground, and a cracking batting track.
Had a bowl for a few overs, felt ok, didn't get a wicket, but bowled a coupla maidens
They ended up with 130 off their 35 overs

I opened and felt good, ball came onto the bat lovely, and was nice to face a bit of pace
We lost regular wickets and ended up all out for 106.
Can't remember what I got,(bowled going back, should have played the line, muppet)

Cracking game on a lovely village pitch, with a good bunch of lads
Doesn't get any better than that

Proper hard fought win today.

Lost the toss, batted first. Came in at #8 with 5 to go, scored 13* off 12 to get us to 195; felt nice to just be out there for a little longer than usual. Was all very close until end but we pegged them back to grab a 20 odd run win. Running all over the place so felt like I did a bit, but dropped one that stayed in the air forever. Nursing a very purple middle fingertip.

Couple of good wins this weekend.

Saturday got 17* from 9 at the end, before 1/37 off 11. Not my best spell bowling into the wind which made a few drop short and when I sped up to counter the wind dragged a couple down. Skipper cleaned up a fivefer, recovering from a very loud crunch to the box whilst batting, which caused much amusement as you'd expect.

Today played against Chesham Bois, with a couple of my star sports running colleagues playing. Didn't bowl myself, didn't need to and wanted to make a game of things so kept my young lads going. Took my first ever slip catch early on, one handed dive to my right which was nice. They got 192/6 from 40. Opened the batting with my usual opener, we put on 133, of which he scored 36 (when we had 40 he had 1). I was second out for 90, cramped trying to press forward to a left arm grenadier and played round it. Got dropped by one of my running mates off the bowling of the other which caused some amusement amongst our WhatsApp chat! Ended up winning by seven wickets, good way for my Sunday captaincy career to finish. One gray area though - to make a game of things I deliberately didn't try for a catch running back and missed it as they were scoring slowly and the chap who'd hit it was scoring quickly.

I think as captain, I've led in 17 games over 4 years, winning 11 losing 6. My numbers were 784 in 16 knocks, 3 not outs with a high of 112, average just over 60 which I am very pleased with!

Skippered Saturday and got a nice win in, lost the toss and got put in, opened and made 22, felt good first time I've got above 16 in weeks after 3 ducks in my last 5 knocks before that, after a couple of other 20s and a top knock of 48 by our number 8 we stumbled to 148 all out of 38 overs.
Took a couple of early wickets and reduced them to 30-4 but they had their best two batsmen at the crease, they took them to drinks 99-4 and they had 20 overs left to get the 50 runs they needed, made a double bowling change bringing myself on and my vice captain, I took 2-14 off 4 including their best bat which I was happy with as it's the first time I've bowled all year and managed to get a lot of turn, the other bowler I brought on bowled excellently and took 4 wickets for just 2 runs, wrapping up the win by 39 runs after they collapsed to 109 all out.
