Our season has started well with some great friendlies but with league starting we have 26 available for 22 places next week... this never ever happens.
Easier to find a bloke out the pub at last minute than let down 4 chaps.
Thinking 12th men & scorers with the promise of "first names on team sheet" next week...but not sure how popular that will be.
Hoping for injuries & holidays to kick in soon ;-)

It'll never be 26 blokes by next Friday night!

Good game against Southbourne today. Batted First, opened the batting, 138 not out, posted a total of 228 for 7, declared on 38 overs as the fielding team were not having much fun. they reached 190 for 8 off 40.

First 3 games, opened at 1 each time total 203 runs, averaging 101 and almost scored half the amount of runs I scored last year! Season is looking good! (so far).

Some people  can get very envious so ignore them and keep scoring runs I will be happy if I score 176 all season
I will also be over the moon to score 176 all season no envy or sarcasm in my comment to score 298 runs in 3 innings and not give a chance and not play and miss at all is WOW SIMPLE

Played for Firle today vs the Thespian Thunderers. We batted first, and needed some quick runs when I went in during the 26th over (35 over match). Got 32 off 21, before being bowled trying to stick the opening bowler into Viscount Gage's herd of cows. Only middled a couple, both of which nearly wiped out my team mates who were standing umpires at the time. We set 173/7 from 35. They went well behind the rate and lost regular wickets until their opening bowler biffed a few boundaries, mostly off my brother, after a strange piece of umpiring. Bowled one to him (left hander) that turned through the gate, hit our keepers pad and bounced onto the stumps. Batter had dragged his foot miles out, and bat was waving around his head, but given not out which was a bit odd. Ended up having to defend 10 from the last and only conceded four, getting a stumping last ball of the game. Really enjoyed it despite the cold, and a cracking tea to boot!

Not sure if we set a record today but in 40 overs we conceded just 2 extras! All the more impressive considering 3 of our bowlers were 12, 13,15.

On a wicket hosting it's 4th game we batted first and got up to 158-7 in 40. When a deck is that tired you take all the pace off. Worked a treat as our 60 year old, young offie and me went for nothing. They got after the young lads a little but by then they were well behind the rate and ended up 124-9.

yesterday I turned up to watch my fellow CFB member @petehosk and @Northern monkey only to find them not playing in the seconds, but scoring all the runs in the firsts. So it looks like I will not get to play in the same side with them after all.

Picked up my first game of the season in the Leagues Player pool, a Sunday match for my old club. run out on 25.

They had a few players short Jason, so only too happy to step up and help out the ones.
To be honest it was nice to face a bit of pace, they had some old boy trying to kill us, which was nice,, came off the bat lovely.

Not sure what the two,s bowling was all about, absolutely stupid giving away that amount of extras.

Hopefully we are all in the same team this week and can all offer our experience and help the youngsters out
