Just after some opinions. Our 2nd team have had to concede this weekend, because as a club we have over 10 players unavailable as they are at Wembley watching Bradford city play off final. Our club isn't the only one affected by the football with players missing, they are a well supported club in our area.
Rearranging all this weekends fixtures was discussed at the league meeting, because of the amount of clubs affected by the footy. But the league have decided to go ahead as planned with the fixtures. For me I can't understand why, it's so simple to arrange other dates for the fixtures, especially as we are so early on in the season, and it would make life easier for so many clubs.
The league sec has said she understands if teams need to concede fixtures, and that if they choose to do so, they won't be punished financially or by point deductions for failing to fulfill fixtures, as opposed to league rules. So she's accepted it's qn exceptional circumstance to warrant that decision, but yet won't just simply allow them to be rearranged to solve all problems. Is this just going against the whole mantra of 'get the game on'?? She's happy for games to be called off/conceded, rather than arrange another date. I just don't understand why?
What do other people think would be the best solution and any other thoughts on the matter?
Last season we cancelled the first week of fixtures and rearranged for the end of the season, due to the terrible weather. So why not just do something similar now?
Our 1st team is down to 5 proper 1st teamers, and 6 others coming up from the 2nds that were left from the football exodus. Gonna have to dig deep with my own personal batting
