@hilly_2015 I didn't know you'd got back on until I saw Ferg this morning!! I assumed you'd been rained off
All of us presumed the same mate! We were sat in the changing rooms already changed - it was just a matter of the umpire calling it.

I think the umpires mind was already made up when he was told that the opposition wanted a crack at it regardless of how many overs were available. To be fair to them - you would. But it needs to be an even contest.

No thought was given about the bowlers run ups - only the pitch itself. It was madness. The minute Joe let go of that first ball from as wide as he could on the crease and it sailed past me behind the stumps - it was just a matter of time.

Just shipped 288 of 34 overs but a nice comeback from them being 200-2 after 20

I came in and took 7.3-0-29-5 which I enjoyed, batting not so good, opened up got it twelve with all boundaries and tries to hit one too square and chipped it to cover should have gone through mid off!

Well an interesting game yesterday my season cannot seem to get going and after the practice I've done it does seem a little unjust....still....it's a team game and the team result counts.

We have them 40-7 and one of their ones players who normally bowls but was injured came down to the twos and got the best ton at number 7 I've seen for many a year.we ended up 8 runs short trying to chase 216 to win. Still we had a go and I perished in the chase.

Double headed fixture this one and over in our ones they shipped 292 off 40 overs with some bloke getting a big ton

They got rolled for 72 with an off spinner taking all ten, yes all ten

Apparently this guy has played against England and. For Leicestershire. I'm just trying to find out his name. So totally stuffed

These guys playing miles below their level astounds me season after season. We are ameteurs who pay to play.

Guested for my former team yesterday and it started out nice and warm but after a rain interruption, it got progressively colder and windier. The venue is next to an old WW2 airfield and after tea (when we were fielding), it got so windy that I almost seized up. Prior to this, I did get a bat, the final ball of our innings which the bowler very craftily fired down the legside.

Today I won the toss for the first time on a Sunday this season but then gave the choice to the opposition skipper anyhow as he was well understrength (we also loaned them a couple) and hadn't a clue whether to bat or bowl. He opted to bat first and with one of our loan players scoring around 75, they posted 187 off 40 overs. Normally that's a winning score on our wicket but their main bowler had to leave for work after 4 overs (2-12) and they didn't really have any other bowling so we won with over 3 overs to spare with the loss of just 3 wickets. Everyone on both teams got a bat or bowl which is what Sunday friendlies are really about.

Played one or out Sat league fixtures today as our club goes on tour in a couple of weekends time. This club is a big club in suffolk with 1st team playing in the Eastern anglian Prem with Tino Best as there pro. Anyway there 4th team is in our league but today apparently only 1 of there 4th team was available so side was made up of what I believe was mainly 2nd team players and maybe the odd 1st team player. Any way we batted first which despite everyone saying to our skipper pitch is green, we have had a bad few weeks with the bat and a few players feeling out of nick if you win have a bowl he decided to bat. They had a tidy bowling attack added in with a few silly shots we ended up 132-6 off 40 overs, 2 spinners opened up and rattled through the overs. Personally managed to drill a ball and inch off the ground and short cover claimed the catch, I wasn't sure but he claimed it and I was out for 16.

In reply we pinched a wicket early in comes a very good player playing 4/5 leagues below what he normally plays and scores 90odd not out. To add salt into the wound the same team conceded to the team at top of the league sat and then put out a stupidly good side to play against a div 7 side today and bar a miracle now our chances of promotion look very slim which isn't there fault but when we asked why such a strong side apparently all three normal 4th team had plans for Bank holiday Monday despite fixtures being issued in Jan.

Any way I might be a bit bitter as just frustrated at how poor we are batting as a side after being so confident of back o back promotions and actually having a side that is normally good enough to compete with this level of players. Couple of weeks off now so may do me some good.

Real close game yesterday,
Batted first and got off to a slow and sluggish start, the pitch looked to be a bit two paced and the openers bowled well early on. Openers did a decent job to see off the new ball before the first opener fell 10 overs in. Some looser bowling and our our number 3 raised the tempo a little before we lost a quick couple of wickets. I went in 6 and got 32, had been opening all year so far but was nice to bat under different circumstances. We finished our 40 with 178 on the board
Their openers got off to a flyer, but a mix up by them and some good fielding by us broke the opening partnership with a run out. Continued to keep it tight and peg them back, I caught out the other opener on the boundary after he'd got 60 odd and we thought we were in with a chance,  but they ended up winning  6 down in the 38th over after we basically ran out of bowling.

This post reminds me of when we won with seven players the opposition reported the club  for a breach of league rules :
Failing to put a minimum of eight players on the pitch.

After my worst pre season prep ever. And I mean ever, first time I picked up a bat was to go out and open the batting in 2nd week of May.
6 that day, 33 last week and 119 Saturday just gone!
Another @Ayrtek Cricket #TekTonne!!
My second 100.
Went in at 3 and was stand in skipper as father in law away, lost toss asked to bat (I would have bowled to)
Got in in the 4th, 50 at drinks around 22/23rd over.  Then motored, bringing up my hundred with a booming 4 over extra cover.
13 4s and 7 6s.

Was pretty knackered so didn't open the bowling as usual, let a young'n get in there and he had a 4 bag. Took 2 catches and 2 poles. (One of the catches was a bit good)

Don't think I'll top that game but I can try

Used to play at Bobbing court when I lived in Kent, played for Bluestar (Sunday friendly side) and Horton Kirby sat league. Always liked that ground, scored lots there over the years
