Shanghai, I've seen people striding out to bat in wicket keeping inners, wearing one pad. Sadly it's all true.

Back in the late seventies my village had quite a good side, made up of a number of villagers and quite a few policemen from the local CID (or whatever it was call then).  The biggest match of the season was against the local Caribbean side Oxford Casuals/Caribbean.  The Casuals were famous in the area for having the four fastest bowlers in the league and at the time tensions were running high between the Black community and the police, especially with the lads from the cricket side as one of there number had been arrested by the village sides wicket keeper (a horrible man).  When it was his time to bat he came out wearing a bright red motor bike helmet. This war!! He was in for a bit, but spent most of his time lying on the floor after being hit.

In the same game the Casuals wicket keeper, kept without gloves or pads and batted without gloves

Couple of nice Charlie French on show Saturday at the Vandals in Walton on Thames, Surrey. Their very useful no.3 sported a particularly agreeable (and effective) Premier Cru.

Have seen lots of new GM softs in the South Devon  area so far especially lower end pads 808 and 606 etc, not really seen any new kit from other manufacturers on show.  Have seen some nice GM player edition bats and some lovely Redback bats. Nice to see Redback out there again very good bats from a local guy.

One of the youngsters in the opp last week was in M&H gear. not sure which model his bat was but it had a very high spine. The bat was an absolute gun! the ball just flew off his bat.

Saw a FKW of Funky, Some Phantom Softs, a Fake Newbery Blitz (he didn't applicate me telling it was a fake, even though he did buy it from the reliable ebay).

I've seen a few nice bits of kit over the last 3 games I played.

Last Saturday a couple of the opposition were using Funky bats (one making 226* so it's safe to say it went well).

On Sunday we lost by 10 wickets, but one of the openers was using an Uzi Diablo and matching softs which looked very nice.

Yesterday we played against a side called Muslim Stars. There was some lovely kit of Asian origins on display, the personal highlight being an MB Bubber Sher

Went to watch the 1s at the weekend and the oppo had a FKW in Vulcan gear.

Also the oppo's #8 had a M&H that went like a train! He was hitting it miles!

Last game I played oppo had a H4L Hattori and a Shark (not sure of the model) in their ranks, nice to see some smaller brands being represented round here, normally just swathes of big brands.

Our no.3 has an Aldred Spectre G1 entering its second year. All of a sudden it's a gun and as good a sounding bat that I've heard.
