'Magic' bat - The perfect bat?
« on: May 12, 2017, 03:36:47 PM »

When @VKS posted about these 'magic' bats (as @WalkingWicket37 would say) that they'd had delivered I couldnt resist the temptation and went all in on the Halestorm that was advertised at 2lb 9.8ozs.

This morning i got a notification telling me the bat was ready to collect so popped off down to the parcel shop to see if there was such a thing as a magic bat existed (it bloody needs to be for me to score runs with it)

Picking up the box the first impression was just how light the box felt! I know that is strange to say but it really did. Opening the box this bat picks up unbelievably light for the size! It really is hard to describe just how light the pickup is!

Vital details -

Weight - 2lb 10.2ozs (Fully prepared unscuffed)
Edge - 48mm
Spine - 71mm
Shoulder - 18mm
Toe @ edge - 22mm
Toe in centre - 26mm
Grains - 8 very pronounced. Does have a weird brown mark on the bottom near the toe though.
Concaving - Minimal
Profile - Mid-Mid/High Id say.
Handle - Slight Oval standard GN handle I believe.

First thing I did was knock a ball up and down on it, this bat makes a noise I don't think I've ever heard from a ball before its kind of a deep, solid thud and the response is excellent over a large proportion of the blade.

Now for some pictures -

There is a couple of strange things written under the grip should be interested if anybody knew what they might mean? I though maybe the 71st made?? But have no idea of the other pet...

Looks a good size for the weight, not many of those about.

The stuff on the handle is a code, i don't know what it refers to, but theres similar writing on all GN bats.

Cheers @Vitas Cricket , does it give some clue as to where it was made or is the same code on UK & Indian made GN's?

Probably not, but isn't their halestorm and pro performance bats made in India?

As you probably know I put out a post to see if there was anymore of these left in the country in a usable weight. I was lucky enough to find another one at 2lb 10.7 ozs.

This one appears to have a lot higher spine than my original Halestorm
