The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

Yeh I have been made to eat my words there with the finish to the Somerset game...I had written us off but some top class fielding pulled it out the bag. Top run out from pollard and great catch at the end too!

He wore one yesterday when making his 42...in fairness i had only dropped them up at 1pm on wednesday for the game on Sky Sports and they started at 7pm so he may have wanted to wer it in the nets etc before a game, however all the others seemed to get on ok with them and Trott now has his on too so all's good!

ah ok, very good news. Hopefully for you guys, people like bell and trott would like them and use them in test cricket. The official helmet of the 2010/2011 ashes series has a certain ring to it :)
