i think you will find, if you read the dangerous book for dogs that the dogs were famous scientists among the dog world and actually conditioned pavlov to feed them when the dribbled!

They werent conditioned to dribble when fed, thats just an unconditioned response, when they added a neutral stimulus, the bell, to the unconditioned stimuli the dog learnt to associate the food with the bell and so dribbling became a conditioned response to the conditioned stimulus, the bell.

But that is an interesting point on conditioning pavlov, maybe macheveilian intelligence in non human animals! But thats a whole new chapter and we wont go there!
