It may be true in some cases but not always. One or two special bats based on request could have been specially made but not all of them.
Pretty sure a top end ton reserve is the same whether from crowncricketer or a US/UK company, and with the UK case being different stickers.
Top end is always ton reserve or gladiator. They just use different stickers based on the country and honestly i don't think they are any different. U can get it from India or UK or US, all would be the same.
Retailers like Jason probably get the bats much cheaper than even the domestic general population from India.
I am not sure if its cheaper than price offered by SS to local Indian retailers. For example - I visited a cricket shop in Chennai and the dealer was willing to sell a Gladiator for 23,000 INR which is a little close to USD 350. You can't get a retailer to sell a Gladiator bat in US for anything lower than USD 425. CSO tends to make it too pricey by labelling the Gladiator at USD 699, which is too high.
He has to run a business in which he needs to mark up his profits as much as he can, and using such said marketing gimmicks is to probably discourage people directly sourcing bats from India and to rather buy it through hin.
He was a little touchy and never sent any pics of an individual bat which you are trying to buy. When someone is spending USD 300 to buy a GM 808, i don't think its wrong to ask for some pics. So i agree with you on this point ... but after a while he stopped stocking SS, since he realized that people don't buy Indian brands from CSO.
