If this forum was strictly only for independent uk batmakers i would likely never have joined it . There are plenty of mainstream , small scale non uk , large scale non uk , subcontinental brands etc that i take great interest in . The fact that i can read and discuss all those brands while also being exposed to independent uk batmakers/forum sponsors etc means i am more likely to purchase from them .... i probably wouldn't have hung around on here long enough to have made purchases from forum sponsors if i could only discuss /read of their wares . So , ultimately,  i think the forum talking about anything and everything that attracts people to the forum means more eyeballs to be exposed to their products , and thus , more likelyhood of sales they otherwise might not have made .

For me the forum has always been about bats both sponsored and non sponsors and at times I have brought a couple of brands to the forum.

You get your hard core fans of certain brands and fair play by I look forward to new brands and bats from new sources

Cricket is to be shared

First, my proposal has nothing to do with the sponsors. I am talking about pooling resources to find "Pro" level bats from "all over the world".

Second, we have to consider a changing demand for the kind of bats as well as the volume. The forum has grown over the years and people have diverse views and requirements. We can't force the shoe to be "one size fit all" and have to consider options which benefit the bat buyers, us! I just don't see the need for the negativity and criticism displayed in this thread. Cricket world is big and growing; so is the pool of bat buyers. Let's embrace change instead of fighting it.

Third, stop being so dramatic about "loyalty" this and that. No body has ever given me a free bat or gear simply because I am a member of the forum.

It's far from growing, the opposite in fact.

Maybe the forum hasn't grown  , haven't been on it long enough to know. ... but maybe it's diversifying?

The myth of the pro level bat...
I reckon if I lent mine to Virat/ABdV/Root they would get on perfectly well with it.
Perhaps they are just really really good at cricket and the bats are broadly similar.
Okay - I'll get my coat

Haha, get out!

We have a lad who played a couple of 2XI game in NZ and now turns out 5-6 times a year, top quality batter who doesn't own more than a box these days. Regularly picks up some absolute plank from the team kit and breezes his way to 70-80 with it.

They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

Some of the 4s he hit were from the toe. Like literally bullets from the toe. The bats he has have to be special.

Yup, I saw a jonny bairstow cover drive recently off a full/yorker outside off stump, that went right off the toe and it raced like a bullet to cover boundary, commentator was saying fielder has no chance to stop that...i dont remember seeing any bat outside TV where toe had such response..

That's just tv camera which adds a few mph to the speed of the shot. Pro bats are a myth, they'd hit sixes with a #2 pencil!  ;)
