Pro profiles and bat shapes
« on: July 08, 2017, 04:45:30 PM »

I am wondering if we have a dedicated thread to post pictures that display a detail view of players' bats and their profiles?

For example, do we have a Kohli bat in pics that displays detail of his profile? From what I have seen on TV, his bats (and many other Asian pros) tend to have quite a visible concaving and a deep curve in the profile.

A thread dedicated to pros bats will be an interesting topic, IMO.

Notice the concaving.

So the question is, does having a fuller convex type profile really makes a huge difference at the expense of a potentially heavy feel during the bat swing?

I like the idea. I have always wanted to know the profiles of bats of pro batsmen. Particularly how their bat choices vary according to where they play (country), conditions, and format of the game.  :)

Kane was having a hit today and he had his new sticks. He let me have a look at this one which he said would be illegal soon. Didn't look that big to me but holy sh*t did it ping. He was getting ready for the CPL and was practicing all these T20 shots.

Might just be new stickers. He had 6 in his bag and about a million white grips. Also used Stretton Fox Thigh guards.

@potzy248 nice pics. Did you get a chance to look at the pads too?

He had brand new ones (Velocity colours). Looked normal.

How was the pickup? Weight? I heard he uses 2-10/2-11 bats.

Felt about 2.10. Pick up wasn't amazing. It was big but felt big too. He smoked the ball though.

Nice bat that Kane's, thanks for the pics. So he uses single grip. Surprised that he uses a 2-10, always thought he used very light bats.

His test bats are light I think. He was getting ready for CPL.

If you've seen his bats in games (wood falling off, tape coming off, etc) you'll see he doesn't care much for looks. This bat was soft too, it was not more than a couple of nets old and it was cracking up all over the place.
