Yeah I get that facing weak bowlers doesn't replicate the test environment (present series excepted). Surely if a batsman's technique is good against poor bowlers it is good against the better ones. It's just that poor techniques aren't challenged as much against the poor bowlers. That said, there are plenty of good batsmen who get out to rubbish bowling because it is not what they are used to.

Whats been learned - England can bat against a windies side that isn't very threatening with the ball.

I would like to see Roy in this set up as he is a quality batter.

Regards the step up from county to international. The difference will be the pace and unless you experience that you will never know. Jennings clearly struggled against the SA and has so work to do. Malan and Stoneman we won't find out about till Aus

There isn't much that can prepare the players for Aus but I like both Hales and Roy as they can deal with the level of cricket and will have to adapt to the style.
