How many gloves do you own ? How many is too many ?
« on: August 23, 2017, 08:00:05 AM »

I go through about 5-6 pairs of gloves per year ( my mates joke that i must sweat acid or something ). I recently got sick of replacing them on a 'need to' basis .I found a few different types i like and stocked up .
Sm pinto  vigour -12 pairs
Unbranded ols sausage - 4 pairs
Ss dhoni 7 all white - 5 pairs
Ss test all white - 5 pairs
Ss limited edition blue - 5 pairs
..... so , that gives me a grand total of 31 pairs of gloves (not counting crappy old pairs i still have floating around). I will use the 4x unbranded gloves and 4x sm vigours as my initial stockpile of training gloves , i will use 1x the sm and the three types of ss as my initial match stockpile....and will then add match gloves to the training stockpile once they are quite used .

So , at the rate i go through gloves , i have5 or 6 years worth.... but , what do you think ?  Still too many ? How many do you have ?  ( surely im not the only one on the forum with a shed load of gloves ?

I have 3 pairs and probably a couple of well past their best pairs in the garage. A pair tends to last me around 2 season (use the same pair for nets and games, change them occasionally if i bat long enough and it's warm).

I always bats in Fingerless inners which maybe gives then a good bit of extra life.

Right now I have a Newbery SPS II pair as my mails gloves with new pairs from Cicada and Woodstock in my kitbag for whenever a change is required.

I catagorise my gloves into two different sections!

Section 1: Gloves which match my bats/pads kit (these are gloves which will go with matching bag/pads/match bats)
Section 2: Net gloves - these are gloves which I do not have matching pads and bats for so can't be that sad FKW which I can be with option 1  ;)

I will need to get Section 2 sorted as I have a dozen or so various sets of random gloves scattered in different places. So will concentrate on listing from option 1.

So Option 1 gloves:
3 pairs of H4L Pro gloves - these are the old plain gloves which were on half price offer from last year - very nice gloves too!
1 pair H4L Custom Pro Gloves to match pads (fantastic quality)
1 pair 5050 gloves to match pads

1 pair Kookaburra Kahuna pro gloves
1 pair Kookaburra Ghost pro gloves (match Blade Pro pads)

2 pairs GN Prestige gloves (match Prestige pads)
1 pair GN Omega 1500 gloves

All the above are really comfortable to wear - if I had to choose 1 set of softs I would choose the H4L Custom softs as they just feel so comfortable on. I realise this is a personal preference and everyone if different. In reality all the softs I have are really comfortable and would happily wear any of them.

I did have others such as the B&S GP274 softs which looked fantastic and felt nice. But I didn't have a matching bat so I thought that having 5 complete sets of gear was too excessive!  ;)

I've got 3 pairs of Ayrtek gloves (Decade Edition sausage & shark tooth & a pair of the black & white shark tooth), a pair of H4L 5050 & 2 Pairs of Affinity gloves. They all have matching pads.

Once a pair is too sweaty I normally give them away. Too sweaty for me is probably 1/2 decent usage for most people.

2 pairs, one which I use consistently and another pair for when the first pair tire out or if I've batted long enough to warrant changing gloves!!!

31 pairs is definitely too many.

I have 3 currently I think - got one full set of Bradbury softs and one of Puma, plus one cheap unbranded pair for nets. Arguably one pair too many ;)

Pair for kitchen coaching videos (blank bats)
Two pairs in my kit bag (adidas elite)
Old favourite pair of gm gloves kept to compare other gloves with if I want to change kit in the future.

I've got one pair of Slazenger top end gloves, bought new off eBay at the start of the season

I find the fit of Slazenger to be perfect for me, and the pittards is always top quality
They've had a bit of use so far this season, so will be replaced over the winter.

Last couple of seasons I've used ss ton, but they don't last long before the palms are knackered

Before that, my affinity ayrtek softs lasted two hard seasons,(still managed to sell em on fleabay)
They were as good as anything I've used

I keep going back to Slaz tho

I feel like I'm letting the side down now

1 match pair 1 net pair that's it

tend to buy a new pair every year and use last years match pair as next years net pair unless a sale on as hard to find the kind of gloves I like

Best pair of gloves I had were salix top of the range, at 90 quid now that's no longer happening
Two pairs for me, one donated from the forum(soul man-legend) one pair of adidas county 6 pound on eBay
Tried on my mates SF gloves the other day remarkably lighter than anything else I tried on
