Tour 2018
« on: September 09, 2017, 09:57:54 AM »

Looking for opposition on 21st and 22nd April 2018 for a pre season tour.

Will be a reasonably poor touring side as we are favouring lads who like a laugh over talent.

Welcome any tips on where to stay, nice grounds or good places for a night out.

My club Martinstown CC is 15-20 minutes drive from Weymouth. One of the prettiest grounds in the county and certainly the best track. If you want to PM then I can put you in touch with our Fixtures Sec.

Weymouth themselves and Dorchester may host you, Portland Red Triangle (although not the nicest ground to play at) would be worth trying. Then there are other village clubs such as Charlton Down, Cerne Valley, Bere Regis and Cattistock (try Liam SCCC on here) who are a bit further away but also worth a go.

Weymouth is the main night out around here, unless you want to go as far as Bournemouth. Not sure where is best to stay but a number of our lads are from Weymouth so may be able to advise further.

Cheers for the response, I have emailed your club email this morning and hope we can organise a game. Weymouth cant use there ground until May, so I think they are not an option.

Thanks for the suggestion of other sides to contact. Maybe see you on the pitch next year.

Can vouch for Martinstown- have toured there for a number of years and always a friendly bunch, and a beautiful ground and tees too!

Sadly we are not able to get two games in April around the Weymouth area. Suggestions would be welcomed

Went to Newquay last year with my old club - decent destination for a tour, plenty of clubs around and good nightlife too!

I assume you'll be getting the boat over to Portsmouth for a night out?

Some nice grounds down there, that’s where I (mis)spent my youth. In my Uni summer hols I sometimes played for 3 different local sides in a week against visiting clubs.

Who are you going to play?

Had 8 teams offer to play us, we’ve confirmed games with Ventnor and Shanklin.

Which one of Ventnor's grounds will you be playing at?
I love Steep Hill, but it's definitely a bit quirky (it's literally a bowl!)
