I don't really post much but I must this time around. I purchased a Laver Mega profile in Special Reserve back in April on their Facebook deal and after a month it arrived. I was impressed with the finishing and pick up of it but felt pressing was too hard even though it came in knocked. I kept on knocking the bat at home and had plenty of spare belters on the side so I was not in a hurry. I took it to nets for the first time last week and i have never felt more comfortable with a bat before. The handle, pick up and feel is perfect. I even scored 41 off 18 this past Friday. I finally emailed Laver Wood saying how much I love the bat only if the pressing was better and they replied that they make softer pressing done on my next bat and it should perform sooner. My apologies for rambling on before coming to the point, did anyone get their Laver softer pressed than their norm? Is it worth going up to a private bin or reserve willow grade strictly looking at performance not cosmetics?

Don't think I'd ever tell a batmaker to press differently! Was the net the first time you'd had a bat with it?

All lavers I have used have felt a bit firm (or at least firmer than other bats) but the effect on the ball has still been 'pingy' just feels different.

exactly.. ball flies off the bat. feels different initially, but I find the ping to be outstanding.

Never understood why someone would press some bats "softer" and some "harder". In my opinion, pressing is either good or bad. Why would you press differently and limit the bats performance, just doesnt make sense. THere is nothing more important than performance and pickup.  there are videos and posts where some of the batmakers have explained that the so called soft pressing will actually hinder performance.
I think what L&W meant was - we messed up pressing on this one, order one more and will do better job with pressing

Never get indentations on any of my lavers so is that hard pressed? Always go like a rocket out of the box though.

Well from what Anthony told me it takes time for lavers to open up, however they pressing is softer for their pro players which reduces the lifespan of the bat but performs much quicker

I have always paid the extra 70 and get them to do the knock in, a couple of nets just to get used to the bat and it's ready to go.They certainly have a different sound but the ball does fly. I guess I would say they are generally hard pressed (well) as potzy said can't indent them.
Anyhow won't sing there praises too much just now as I wait for the return of my last order which was 1,6 overweight and profile not spot on,

Laver bats does have a firmer feel but that does not effect its performance. If knocked properly a Laver bat goes quickly. Atleast all my 3 Lavers were quick performers.

Lavers take time to open up for sure. Most of my teammates including me had a couple at some point and it started performing after 5-6 months of decent use.
If you have time, you can do a lot of throwdowns and nets which will help.

However, once they start opening up which does take time, the ball flies even for the bats which are 2.6 or 2.7.
