Just an update from our AGM last night we had a league panel umpire attending truly unbelievable but be mentioned bat regulations will be enforced, he has a measuring tool

I asked him what is the procedure for bats not complying and he said

Your bat will be confiscated, when I said you cannot take my own bat from me the reply

You will be red carded

Honestly I choked on my peanuts

This is total nonsense. I  am deliberately going to use an oversized bat now for sure just for the hell of it

Bring it on!!

Ah I knew some jobsworth would be petty enough to start this,
Hope none of the idiots that umpire our league jump on this stupid bandwagon

What league/standard is this?

My H4L custom SS Jumbo a like has a max 22 mm edge, and laughs in the face of an MCC bat gauge.

@ppccopener I'd have asked if the league will cover the cost to replace the bats that can no longer be used. Absolutely ridiculous idea!

Will a number 11 using a bat with a 41mm edge really make any difference to the outcome of games?

I think the problem as I see it they have left it to the leagues to use their discretion.this is the third time I have heard this will be enforced

I’m a trying to think of something more ridiculous for club cricket

Anyone remember newberys c6 handles? They said club players could still use them but stopped the manufacturers making them under mcc guidelines....

This is exactly the same thing to me

There is a need for a bat maker who'd entertain ONLY the club market by flouting MCC regulations. "We respond to the demands of our customers not MCC, ICC, or that used tp, Ricky Ponting! We make big bats for club players to bring them the most possible joy of hitting a cricket ball with a giant ass bat to make their weekend the absolute best. Haters can suck on it!" :D

My biggest disappointment was James Laver when he started yammering on facebook AGAINST big bats. He reminded me of Lars Ulrich of Metallica when they picked a fight against Napster. Lars looked like a greedy, talking hemorrhoid and could not stop the streaming tsunami that changed the music industry.

Let their be big bats for us clubbies!

the new bat regs has massively helped bat makers and willow merchants. They now can make standard shapes and not have to produce massive light bats on demand and also i assume oversized clefts would cost more.

I am sure we will still be able to get big bats from custom makers

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

If they are going to follow this rule then they should also enforce all other MMC bat regulations. In which case can we expect every batsman in your league to have their bat inspected at the start of their innings to check it isn't either oversized, a laminate, has a graphite back or a carbon handle, etc.

Let's not forget no metallic edge stickers or edge stamps to confuse that fragile ol hotspot .
