Plunkett to join Surrey on a 3 year deal at the end of the current season. Really don't understand it, he's a great player but we have loads of bowling options

No, I don't understand this either - its a bad old Surrey move, when you've done so well in the last couple of years playing more young, homegrown talent.  Though its not like he's been poached - Yorkshire weren't offering him anything - and he should have an England central deal so will not be overly expensive.

Martyn Moxon's comments are interesting:

“We are trying to assemble a squad that has availability and is within our budget to compete in all three domestic competitions. With that in mind we are not in a position to be able to offer Liam a new contract.

A county in Yorkshires position with players involved in all formats of international cricket will always struggle to play to their potential as they can never nail down a settled side.  I wouldn't have thought that Plunkett was a big wage earner given that he moved to Yorkshire having been unable to get a game at Durham so I assume that it is the lack of availability that is the issue.

For what its worth, I would still have Plunkett as an option in test cricket.   Our attack over the winter would have looked far more threatening had Plunkett played ahead of the likes of Curran, Overton or Woakes

That'll be nailed on should he decide he still wants to play test cricket next year. With it being an Ashes year I'd bet my salary on Rashid being with a different county for 2019 (cue the opening of Surrey's cheque book).

Nah we’ve grown out of our phase of signing idiots. Weve got a great dressing room atmosphere and ethic no way would Stewie risk it by signing Rashid

I would prefer the game time going to Matt Parkinson rather than signing a player who is likely to have limited availability due to international commitments

Jeetan Patel can't have many more miles left on the clock. Warks to sign him?
