A goodbye, of sorts
« on: October 23, 2017, 04:25:02 PM »

Hi all,

Due to an unfortunate and until recently unforeseen set of circumstances, Vitas Cricket have to vacate the current premises at the end of the month. There have been a  number of alternative premises considered but ultimately most of them have not been even close to being suitable. We did have plans to move to a great little retail space and started clearing off stock to make the move easier, but unfortunately this fell through at the final hurdle.

Given the time of year, and the fact that Vitas Cricket is a solvent business, there is no pressing need to operate on a day to day basis right now. The decision has been made for a short period to mothball the idea of a bricks and mortar retail space and operate online/via the forum, with the plan to re-expand into a suitable premises when the time is right. All current stock orders with brands are on hold whilst this process takes place, any pre-orders will still be fulfilled, please contact sales@vitascricket.co.uk with any questions regarding your pre-order.

In light of the unpredictable future, from November I have decided to take up a role at Durant Cricket after being offered the opportunity to run their marketing, email campaigns, website etc and still get my hands dirty now and again with the construction and maintenance of various items of ground equipment. I may, if the circumstances suit both parties, run a forum sponsorship account for Durant Cricket, though it isn't clear from initial research how many forum enquiries about nets, covers etc are from casual interest or actual decision makers.

Vitas Cricket will continue, in what form is not exactly clear yet. When the time comes and there is a physical space to run a shop from I will no doubt still be involved doing a few Saturdays and evenings during busy periods, I will continue to run the forum account too, although I may not be as responsive as quickly as previously to PMs and emails to jake@vitascricket.co.uk. Going forward if you need quick and accurate information please contact Robin via sales@vitascricket.co.uk

I will shortly adopt my own personal forum username where I will have the option to be a bit less restrained in what I say; somewhere along the line there might well be some home truths as there is a lot of unchecked misinformation on here and I sometimes have to bite my tongue.

I'm not going anywhere, and nor is Vitas Cricket, but who I am and who I represent when it comes to posting on this forum is altering. I hope to remain involved as much as possible, despite plenty of negatives and nonsense over the years, the majority of my experience here has been very good and I have made some good friends and contacts, particularly at forum meets/events and organised games such as the H4L fixture.

I wish anyone who's had a lovely bat from us all the best, and hopefully you'll have another one from us in the future :)

Good luck you have gone out on a high with a cracking sale but loads of us hope to see you back in retail very soon and on the forum, the vitas sticker on the bats gives a nice bit of reassurance, Pete had most of them at the forum net!

And say what you think, the rest of us do !!  :)

Good luck!

When I first joined the forum I couldn't figure out why Chad would drive all the way from Scotland to Vitas.

You soon find out it's because of the person behind it.

All the best Jake with your new challenge.
