Unsurprising when NB throw around 200k contracts for Root/Stokes! If he's after that sort of money then it'd have to be a global sports brand for them to get any hope of a return.

£100k would need to sell 400 bats at an avg of £250 per bat just to cover annual sponsor ship, can’t belive any company can expect to shift that many just because YJB uses that bat, espically has he really only plays test cricket

That's why it's left to the like of Adidas/NB to stump cash up. To them 100k is just a drop in the overall marketing budget, the number of bats sold is of very little importance to them.

To put it in perspective, a £250 bat to the trade is pretty much top end - would like to see any company sell 400 'LE' bats a year, let alone 400 just to cover the sponsorship of one player!

New balance don't just do bats though.. Pads, gloves, spikes plus all the other apparel and training gear. I guess the sponsorship deals are more about overall exposure for the brand not just to sell bats!?

With willow availability selling
400 LE bats per year  has been easily  achivable.

Yeah that's my point, cricket is of such little significance to NB/Adidas/Puma in the grand scale of things.

When you're spend X million per year on TV adverts, 100k to sponsor one of England's leading players for the year doesn't sound quite as bad...

How many top end bats from the current years range do you actually see being used?

Outside of the forum I don't think I know of anyone who's spend £400+ on a bat! The majority of players I know will buy a bat for whatever their budget is then use that bat until it's broken.

The volume may be achievable, but how many people actually buy a top end bat now the prices are so high?

If you say so...

Think about it worldwide sales by the industries   top manufacturing  guys  sales of 400 LE bats per year not excessive.

For the big players like GM, GN etc I agree, but I can honestly say I've seen 2 Adidas bats being used since I've been playing, and I'm fairly sure one was a fake!

Maybe just a west country thing, but M&H clearly don't struggle to shift bats at a fair whack more than £400!

As Bairstow played today, did anyone see what stickers he had on his bat?

Ok, i found it and it appears just to be a plain bat with no stickers.

Not surprising really in how sudden his contract ended.

Still wearing his adidas pads and gloves.

This is a textbook bad break up. Still wearing the ex-lover’s clothes.
