You would think they would supply them in padded covers.

I don't get it, why would you buy an Indian made Laver reserve from IJC for £600 when you can have the real thing direct from Laver for a little under £400 at current exchange rates? Can't imagine this is what Laver intended, you wonder how involved they are in the 'exclusive distributor' business.

'I've never seen these before, they're still hand picked' rofl.

At 0:30 mark he talks about what's in the store. He also talks about ordering bats to be custom made in NZ and shipped back to India. Does the showroom really help with that? People can do the same over the web.

IJC doesn't specify which ones are made in India, do they? I think Brute is the only one that's made in India, rest are made in NZ. Regardless, it is a confusing message given to the market and ultimately, dilution of the brand.

L&W pricing doesn't come close to other offers in the Indian market. SS, SG, RNS, KG, Protos, MRF, Champ, RS, DSC etc have very good options in the USD 200 to 250 range. SS LE, SG Sunny Tonny, Robinson Pro, Champ Elite, DSC condor flite etc fall in the range of 225 to 250 USD range. Laver legend (which is usually their G2 offering) is priced at 18000 INR i.e 240 USD(approx), seems a bit higher end of the pricing side. But its definitely cheaper than paying USD 299 + shipping for the same bat from NZ. So I am guessing L&W have done their market research before pricing each of these models for the subcontinent.

Whist I see your point and have had the opportunity to review many of the bats you identify as it's competition, I don't agree completely. These are mass production offerings, whilst Laver tries to appeal to the discerning cricketer. It's the luxury option. Who cares if it plays no better or worse then the others.

Mercedes continues to make some real lemon's though the 2000's to mid 2015 , but they represent a lifestyle, so they still sell plenty.

So the Indian market (and surrounding states) targeted is the players with cash (#i'm rich biatch) who can buy whatever they want and therefore like to have something that is more prestigious. I think it is a great move for them and if they can keep their standards high will pay dividends.

That said the bat nerds like us, see past the labels and look for sheer performance and bang for buck....and huge edges.

Is a bat handpicked if someone sends you a photo of two and you pick one?

Didn’t he say he has an ex customer there who hand picked them for him? It doesn’t have to be Paul who hand picks them. I know every has a bit of a dislike for IJC but come on get real guys.

That is correct, i think if you claim al bats are handpicked and you have an ethos then its bent slightly you will attract critiscism, if they sell i doubt they care!

I understand they have stretched the truth at times regarding hand picking bats and criticism is deserved but if I ask a mate to go to a batmaker and hand pick a bat for me is it hand picked or not?

Maybe he has an “friend “ at the store to hand pick them for him...or maybe he doesn’t...

The vitriol aimed towards IJC is getting boring. When they nearly closed down recently loads of us were saying how sad that was. Whatever you think of the company and their practises they do release decent video reviews and I personally enjoy the 'top 5 bats of the month'.
Let's stop constantly critisicing someone trying to maintain a cricket centred retail outlet. I imagine it's bloody hard work and poorly paid.
