Mongoose CoR3 questions
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:37:26 PM »

ok, first post :)

for my 21st this tuesday, I have asked for a mongoose CoR3. I am a little bit confused at their webshop as it has the "CoR3 series" and the "CoR3 custom", now Im slightly confused, but am I right in thinking that the custom is what it says on the tin: custom made? I believe there is someone on this forum who works for Mongoos so perhaps I could get an answer?

Cheers

Yeah, Leo works for Mongoose I think.

I was about to start a thread on this too, Healy, Nicholas and Slater were talking about Mongoose extensively this morning, fist about the short one (cant remember the name), then the CoR bat that Smith uses. They were really complimentary and even gave out the web address.

I should be so lucky! As Harry said its Tom. Custom is custom made, you can go to their factory in Hunts and watch it being made to your specs.

yeah ever since I saw the bat I was interested in it, however when I saw the CoR3 I was very interested as I doubt my style would fit with the MMi3, in fact when I said I wanted a Mongoose the responce was "your not having that small bat", so a quick explaining was needed lol

yeah I was looking at that myself but we decided a 4 hour journey is a little bit OTT

I think they are made custom at Hunts County Bats, but not 100%, so you'd go there if you one custom made.

All can be Custom Made to profile and you can add the personalisation, grips and if you drop me an email even specify the grain you'd prefer. The Series, Custom and Custom Pro refers to the grades of willow. Custom Pro being the highest (G1) whereas Series is G3.

No problem, just means we should probably make it clearer as it seems a few don't know the diff.

after looking at the 3 bats it does say in the description what type of willow is used, maybe its me not looking clearly lol

one more question Tom, I know its personal preference but what is the ideal weight to go for with the CoR3?. Last season i was using a bat called "DER" from an indian company called derrohit, its nice but I never knew the weight, could be 2.14, could be a 3, Im not sure lol, it was slightly heavy

If it was too heavy for you I'd go for a 2lb 12/13 CoR3. I would think the CoR3 would pick up slightly lighter than the DER anyway by looking at their shapes.
