So the big question is...

2018 Payntrs or 2018 Adidas adiZero Boost SL22s?

What do we think?

Tried these, the SL22s, the Boosts and the NB. These were by far the most comfortable along with the Boosts, although they are a bit of a struggle to get on. The Boosts were an extra �30 so went for the spiked Paynters as thought they'd be more versatile. You can also pick up the old style Boost for 45 sheets on eBay, which are effectively the same just a different colourway.

SL22s get my vote. The Payntrs were far too tight on the sides of my feet even though I have a narrow foot and even when I tried a size up. The easy laces were also rubbish.

Oh, right. Interesting. I thought Payntr had solved the issue with the narrow foot width for 2018. Equally, people were saying to order a half size bigger in the SL22s as well!

The problem seemed to be the side support in the show which makes them incredibly stiff. I can understand needing this sort of support in a bowling shoe but it seems unnecessary in a batting shoe

Totally redone for 2018 model, and greatly wider. Also they have removed the easy laces and no longer an option

Were they the 2018 you tried? The 2018s I bought seemed far softer underfoot than the SL22s to me. I really like the look of the SL22s and went with the intention of buying them, but after trying both the Paynters won me over in n terms of comfort. Proper laces now too.

Tried both the 2017 and 2018 versions. Both were too narrow but I would agree that the 2017 were worse.

The SL22s are the closest I have come across to a cricket shoe that has the comfort of a running trainer.

The fact is feet are odd things and everyone's feet are different.
As a result everyone will have to try on a range of shoes and find out what works for them.

Shoes are designed for the average foot. There isn't an average foot. Our own feet are usually different sizes!

Where I am going with this is simple. You cant choose a pantyr or an adidas shoe, without trying them on.

Perfectly put.

Exactly why I wear spiked up trainers.... because I have knackered/odd feet that won't fit a thing, so it's a lot easier to find a comfortable pair a light trainers and get them spiked.

Depends on how much support for the foot you want. There seems to be a trend of bowlers wearing shoes with far less ankle support than ever used to be the case. These don't offer any support for the ankle so I wouldn't bowl in them
