Last weekend I got hit in my follow through after bowling, ball got nailed back at me like a tracer bullet. All I had time to do was stick an arm across my chest to protect my ribs, but if I'd ducked I would have been in serious trouble so I've got off lightly really, no break but hefty swelling and bruising from wrist to elbow.
Has anyone had anything similar before? A week on I've still got pain when flexing my wrist forwards or backwards and struggle to grip for sustained periods- not much good as a teacher with already dubious handwriting! I've spent 3 days icing it, ibuprofen and paracetamol for a few days, compression support most of the week and ice applied straight after the impact. I've been suggested arnica bit its probably too late to stop the bruising now. I'm hopeful of being back in full training in a couple of weeks, depending on how my course is going, as I want to train as much as possible before season starts as pre-injury I was netting 3 times a week.
