We put 232 on and the oppo knocked them off with 3 balls to spare. We missed one of our opening bowlers, suffered during the middle overs, we conceded far too many runs.

I opened and got 20 quickly, felt good on a lovely batting track! Got excited after hitting a six over the covers and hit a leading edge to gully trying to flick one through mid wicket. Bowled a rare 3 overs at the end and picked a wicket up.

They're still quite useful for pressing and handling to be fair ;)

Thanks all, I'm obviously made up. On a side note, highly recommend thinking hard about what makes you score runs and writing forum posts about it the day before a game, and also watching Pointing masterclass videos on YouTube before games!

I think you need to share said Masterclass to the forum! 100s galore next weekend!

Top nock too well done!

Didn’t play yesterday but did today and on the end of a 100 run thumping but a decent game personally

Opened the bowling and as an off spinner that’s rare for me, too 1-34 off 8 overs 5 up front 3 at death we shipped 250

That brings my average for my Sunday side to 18

Batted at 6 with the game already lost hit 20 not out in about 8 overs timed it nicely couldn’t find boundaries

But it does bring my Batting average for my Sunday team up to 41 after two games sow I’ll be working hard to keep it there!

First up, many congratulations Ed, fantastic knock, well done indeed. Such a good feeling with your own bat too.

We player Elveden 2s this afternoon. A beautiful day here in Suffolk, perfect for cricket. They batted first and put up 217, we chased and fell at the last, 200 for 8 off the 40. I managed a decent 42 from an opening stand of about 110. Caught at gulley which was a disappointing end, but all in all, a great afternoon.

My Sunday side played their first game of the season today, after 6 cancelled games, and my 2nd game of the season. Went in at 4 at 32-2 after a run out, and faced some fairly average bowling. My 4th ball was down the leg side, I swivelled round and nailed it right out of the middle, only to pick out short fine leg who caught it an inch of the ground. Had to drag myself off the pitch, couldn't believe it. God this game is so frustrating at times!

We didn't appear in any trouble as we strolled to 80 odd for 4 after 20, but then we collapse to 98 all out. Just poor batting, no real threat from any of their bowlers. They started well, 40-0, but we fought back and began to take wickets. Although the result never really looked in doubt we managed to get them 7 down before they reached their target of 99. So 2 innings and just 5 runs to show for it so far. Can only get better, I hope!

As it was my post you commented on, does that mean i get half your runs?  ;)

You said to look for 1's and 2's and started this innings with a host of boundaries. Now I've no hope of ever scoring runs with such mixed advice :)

Congrats again

Good point - one key thing I neglected to mention is when opening the batting, make sure to get yourself facing the bowler who's fond of a full toss, not the pacey accurate one who keeps hitting cracks on a length! http://uniofbristol.play-cricket.com/website/results/3275845

Had a very good match today in the grounds of Harewood House.

We made 199-7 off 40 overs thanks mainly to 107 not out from someone who only turned out for us because of an injury to someone else. After tea, the opposition made steady progress but you know it's going to be your team's day when one of the openers absolutely drills a sweep shot straight into the hands of the man placed for saving a single at 45 degrees. A number of us including me were initially thinking what a great shot not realising the catch had been taken. The other opener made 50 but he then nailed the ball to mid-on but the unluckiest man of the day surely has to be the batsman who was run out by yours truly with a direct throw. I can honestly say that in 35 years of playing cricket, I have never properly run out anyone before but this chap popped the ball up on the leg-side and set off for a single only for the bounce to spin perfectly into my right hand so I took aim and hit middle stump and he was out by a couple of yards. I also picked up a couple of wickets too (more good catches) and we won by 35 runs but I am going to dine out on this run out for the rest of the season !!

Grumpy Rich came out on Saturday - got given out lbw to a ball that wouldn't have hit a second set. Sulked on the boundary for 30 overs as we collapsed to 41/5 then recovered to 213/9.

Oppo had a 100% record and were in confident mood at tea, but our bowling attack is amongst the best in the league and some disciplined lines strangled the scoring. Although we didn't bowl them out, they left themselves 120 to chase from the last 15 overs and never got close. Won by 32 runs in the end.

I managed a catch (2nd slip) and a run out (direct hit on the dive at short midwicket) so at least I bagged a few fantasy points for the day.

Off already tomorrow, 'waterlogged pitch'. Some tit's forgotten to put the covers on I assume, what a farce. Only us and one other side with a 100% record so far this year, kiss that goodbye and hope to make it up later then!

Last 2 matches(night) have been pretty entertaining for me. Have hit some of the biggest sixes of my life in the last 2 weeks. My GN 50+ is very very special  :)
