Played a T20 last night, was forced into bowling the 18th and 20th overs due to injury and it being quite dark so we felt spin was the only way that was fair. Got absolutely dispatched for 22 off the 2 overs however managed to make it up. Chasing 150 in pretty much the dark managed to get it in 17.1 and after opening the batting finished 77*, lovely average booster.

Started really well against the top of the table side, fantastic... then rain, boo. On the bright side, I got runs again, with the visiting in-laws watching  and a red inker to boot. 270 for once out in the past eight days, the most purple of purple patches. Bat #003 is unbelievable!

Game called off after 7 overs.
Went off for rain and never went back on.

Oh well, only the 2nd game we've lost to the weather this year.
On to next week :)

Played for my other league team so could only bat no.7 . Hit. 60* and got 2 wickets. Which, any of the West Country CBF team will tell you says more about their batting than my bowling. Anyway ended up in a rain affected draw. Good day out though.
More importantly my car battery was dead and I i to get my brother to give it a jump start, so arrived late. I charged the battery all game but couldn’t have  have a beer after as I worried about having to turn my lights on.
Got home and the missus only had 2 beers in the fridge. Is that grounds for divorce?
Anyway. One league team I play for is relegated and the other promoted. Mixed season really.

Big game today playing 2nd in the league with us 3rd. Unfortunately we fell short chasing so promotion may be slipping away.
On a personal note picked up a 5'fer including a hat-trick at the end of the game.
This year I struggled early on with the ball and went through a period where I couldn't let go of it with any confidence. Was good today to be back amongst the wickets despite the disappointing team result.

A comfortable win today, batted first and felt in superb nick after feeling a bit out of form last couple of weeks? Oppo openers were sharp and moving the ball at decent pace and saw them off making 40 when 3rd ball from young leggie i spooned it to backward point and threw away all the hard work.
A real positive was then watching our young colt who has bags of talent score his best score of 146, we ended 176/5 including 2 wickets in last over smashing out

They were never in the game and blocked the hell out of it losing wickets as they went and kept us in the field for the full 45 overs finishing 134/9 so 19 PST which puts us top by 16pts with 2 games in hand over the other teams up with us, so pretty much up as champions now

Opposition conceded so once again got a game in the player pool. On arrival, skipper asked me whether I batted or bowled, said prefer a bat so fielded while the opposition were bowled out for just 42. Tea was decent but as I am going into the changing room assuming I am opening or going in 3, skipper tells me I am batting at 8.  In fairness, if he had put me at No.5, I wouldn't have got a bat as target was reached in less than 10 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets but that's one club I won't be pooling for again.

My season just keeps going downhill. Since my 43 at Billingshurst I have scored a grand total of 1 run in the league. Billingshurst game was in June. I've had two games where I didn't bat, 1 last weekend, a 3 ball duck two weeks ago and a first baller today. First season ever my batting average has been so appalling- was 10.5 before today's goldie. Batted 11 on a damp track, been told not to hit through it but instead try to drop and run. Ball kicked up as I tried to get in behind it, caught by cover diving forward off the splice. Then wicketless in 9 good overs and took a blinder at short fine leg off a full blooded pull shot. Unfortunately we lost again. Last game we won was in June and we are massively in the mix for relegation with 3 of the top 4 to play.

Personally very frustrated as I came into this season hitting the ball better than I have for years, and have got about 60 runs all season as I have been stuck in the tail. I know I have so much more to contribute, but I haven't had a chance to, and the lack of opportunity has led my form to nosedive. Currently I can't grumble about being 11 as I'm not scoring runs. Slight concern is that my club in Aus have a link to my stats so will see that I've had a lean spell.

Recently I haven't bowled a lot either. Today I bowled my maximum of 9, but the week before I got 4 late on, before that 1 and then off again despite creating chances. The overseas, who is injured and just coaching, has been quite annoyed that I've been under used, as have I.

Managed to run off the middle of my bat to slip to complete a miserable year of Cricket. I can see why people give up as it’s not much fun.

I enjoy netting and training but hate the games. Meh, only 3league games to go and I can enjoy losing another 2 stone, fitness and netting. Next year if it’s anywhere less than 600 league runs I’m dropping to the twos for a  seaason of dinky 50’s

We managed to beat the rain yesterday to win a crucial game.
A fairly comprehensive win too, oppos batted first and we skittles em for 74,
We knocked em off before the rain came for a couple of wickets

I wont post my figures etc, but well chuffed with my season so far, first year I’ve got into the league bowling avgs in over 40yrs of playing, and batting’s not too bad so far
Nice to be playing with a really good bunch of lads, amazing the difference it makes to your game

Another frustrating one for me as I seem to have become a serial bottler, last few weeks I’ve got to 20 and then got myself out.

We bowled first. The oppo’s 1st team didn’t have a game so their overseas and another batsman dropped down 4 divisions to play (make of that what you will). We run the overseas out early on, and managed to restrict them to 180 odd. Should have been about 50 less, as I had their batsman who got 70 plumb LBW in my second over. Their umpire had been triggered LBW by his own teammate earlier and had then decided that the LBW law didn’t apply when he went out to umpire. (It was also his son, so evidently he wasn’t giving it out, despite it hitting middle & leg) it’s also worth noting that he had a temper tantrum when he was wided twice in one of his overs! Ended up going for 30 off 6 overs. Not helped by the fact 12 (yes, 12!) of those runs came as a result of miss fields!

Our opener was out early in the chase, leaving me and our opener to put on a 50 partnership. The oppo for some reason had a sweeper out both sides so I was literally defending into the gaps and running easy singles. Then I managed to middle one straight back at the bowler who grabbed it about an inch of the floor. At 70-1 the chase looked good, but then our middle order just didn’t fire, and we fell short by about 20 odd, not helped by the fact we had 3 genuine tailenders today. Promotion is out of the question now barring a miracle, but we need one more win for a club record season (reformed in 2009)

On a side note, after being pissed off getting out to a medium pacer who was doing nothing with it, I checked my phone and realised I had won £500 on a bet. Think I’ll treat myself to a new pair of gloves as mine split today after 3 years of use.

Our first team are all but relegated no susprises when we have lost all of our quicks either to uni gfs or other clubs. Can’t expect to stay one league below an ECB prem league with a 64 year opening the bowling. After a bad start averaging in the single figures have managed to get the average up to mid 20s. The highlight of our season was winning the midweek 20/20 against our local rivals batted three and batted through for 76* finished up with MOM and Batsmen of the day. 4 league games left and realistically need to win all 4 to avoid the drop..
