Ideal scenario I get a well paid job and keep playing at Ansty.
Mate who plays at Chesham says that Amersham were arguing between themselves all the way through the game, plus their overseas bowls 20+ overs of spin each week.

Chesham, where my protégé now plays, I've heard of a lack of depth beyond 1s.

Wycombe is further, lad I coach with who was Bucks u18s can't get a game in the 1s (now at Chesham) and says the atmosphere wasn't great.

Im playing at Amersham on 9th September, so will see how that goes. I like the ground, skipper was keen for me to come along and play 1s. But they have the kid who bullied me.

Gerrards are literally next door to my grandparents, haven't spoken with them at all. Harefield I have considered but it is further than Amersham, Chesham etc.

The overseas could potentially be an issue but will he be back next season? Even if you play their 2s you'll be playing div 2 cricket I think, you'll also have access to better facilities, players and coaches so your game is bound to improve. Worst case and you start in their 3s then you'll be playing div 4 stuff but if you do well you'll have the option of going into a higher team, something which Chalfont can't offer.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bullying part, you're early to mid 20s now and I'm sure the skip will put your old bully into place if he does anything.

Mohawks there's always Burnham and Slough :)

Not sure he'd fit in there...😂. Not sure what other spinners are at Burnham but can't see Farhaan being dropped from the 1s so that's one place down.

I think the overseas has been there a few seasons now. Their 1s are home counties 2, 2s are tvl 1 or 2.

@mohawks94 I was chatting to a load of the Amersham 2s lads and they said that the OS pro has been there for 5 years and is staying and will continue to bowl as much as he does because he carries the team however, with that being said, their 2s play a decent standard and are probably pushing for a Div 1 promotion next year as long as their availability doesn’t let them down. The problem with Home Counties teams as a whole is that they rely on 1 or 2 players to carry the team, generally, that is one gun batsman and one gun spinner. And those that aren’t paid players generally don’t get a look in, I find a lot of big clubs tend to buy players in rather than blood players from lesser teams. However, the answer to that is: play at a club where you enjoy your cricket and get a look in, let’s say a div 2 side take 30 wickets and score a few runs and then you’ll have clubs looking to pay you to play and then they will rely on you for a bucket load of overs. That’s how TVL works.

That’s sound advice jake.
It’s not where you play, it’s who you play with. Enjoy your cricket and form will follow.

Cheers @LEACHY48 I've been in touch with my contact at Amersham about going there after what you've said. Realised an additional bonus of going there is that two of my old heads of year play there, mostly 2s, and are fantastic blokes. One of them is a leggie who bowls off the wrong foot, the other a good bat.

Ah JP? class bowler proper thinking cricketer and a lovely bloke too. All the 2s boys were good blokes had a long chat with them after the game, their Aussie can bat and bowl too! Decent cricketer him!

Not JP, one of the lads I coach with. He's told me that the overseas bowls unchanged in the times games which wouldn't be ideal, but as you say the facilities are better.

Yeah he does and on the honours board you can see how many wickets he gets for them because of it, but he’s the reason they are HC feeder. But it’s a great club and if you take she’d loss of wickets and score a decent number of runs you’ll be hard to overlook bud. Ultimately we are all amateurs and just play for the enjoyment, so if that’s not there, then what’s the point? Ideally you want a club where you’ll be challenged, but be involved and that has a good bunch of lads, Amersham definitely for me would definitely fit that bill

Cricket gods have been kind. We had a convincing victory against a potential banana skin and both 2nd and 3rd place lost so we have gone third and closed the gap to second to only 14 points. With the top teams still to play each other it’s promising to be an interesting run in to the end with a potential promotion decider against the current 2nd place team our final match.... either way after quite a few seasons of struggling and then getting relegated it’s beeb good to get back to winning ways and be in a positive fight as opposed a negative relegation one

We dropped 8 catches on Saturday, 4 off my bowling and all 8 were easy catches. Obviously, we lost. I'll leave it at that.

We got absolutely hammered. All out for 167 and chased in under 15 overs.

Wow, 11/12 runs an over! That must have been brutal
