Great effort. I discovered that the quickest way to get the scuff sheet glue off is wire wool dipped in white spirit. Doesn't seem to cause any damage and it cleans off all that tacky black glue, means you don't waste lots of time and orbital sanding sheets.
Jesus, what exactly were they doing with that bat to get it into that state?
Not sure, just standard stuff from Homebase. I then sand with regular sand paper.

That's a great repair. I'd be interested to know if it holds on a match situation. Friend at my Club has a GM Original LE with an almost identical crack. If GM doesn't replace it he is thinking it is unmendable...
