One of the most interesting days I've spent at the cricket for a while. A pitch that looked like a 275 wicket played like a 120 pitch, and some superb bowling. Three players, aside from YJB's counterattack in the second dig, really stood out.
For Yorkshire, Harry Brook looked superb second time round.
For Essex, despite all the press, Porter looked average - probably the least threatening of the seven main seamers on display. Simon Cook, though, looked a serious prospect - some gas, allied to a really challenging length. Biggest props though went to Dan Lawrence. The pitch eased post 1500 but his runs were made against a decent attack when it was doing all sorts, and he looked serious quality.
