Gary ballance

Used to own one of his net bats from slazenger, was absolutely massive for the weight and went like a train. From memory it was actually a little shorter than a normal SH too.

Is there a lot of Slazenger gear on display?

We play in a midweek league that has a few "social sides" and they tend to use mostly GM or Gray Nicolls, with the odd New Balance thrown in.

I've not played this season, but it has certainly was the case in recent years. I would say as many as 1 in 2 had Slaz whites from SD in the Victoria Park crixket league.

There aren't really any proper cricket shops in central London. Not that that's any excuse in my eyes.

When Gary Ballance was with Slazenger there was a small "sponsors of Gary Ballance" on the Jedi website. I took that to mean they might have given/ made for him a bat or two.

Gareth Batty walked out to bat without Slazenger sponsorship last night. He's been with them his whole career.

His bat was unstickered. What brand is the kit in the video?

Signs weren't good  on the sponsorship front when they ditched Clarke about 3 weeks before he posted a triple against India.  Anyone know whom made that bat?  Did/do they send their pros to Sondhi, or do/did the players just sticker them up anyway?

This is interesting. Slazenger is actually separately licenced in Australia/NZ and it was more that the Slazender name was pulled off the shelves than Clarke dumped. He went straight to Spartan. I dont know the inside mechanics but I was told that the owner was the same and just decided to back Spartan instead of Slazenger. This may be 100% wrong, so happy to be corrected. Scoring the triple with a blank bat was a opportunity lost.

Certainly was. Interesting that about the ownership. You'd think if they were owned by the same parent company the transition would be seamless.

Regardless, it was a great knock, beautiful to watch.
