I am currently using a TK made bat as my match bat. I put that bat thru a lot of preparatory steps (unlike any other bat I own) before I felt it was pinging phenomenally. The thing that makes it difficult to judge "readiness" is how TKs sound - they have a more bass-ey/deeper sound compared to my CA for instance. Until one of team mates commented in the nets (this season) that the ball was rebounding really hard, I didn't think the bat was ready.
This is the only bat that went thru a bat knocking machine. I then used it in a lot of net sessions followed by a couple of games (last season) where I knew I was going to dab the ball around for 1s and 2s. I hardly ever used a mallet on this bat. IF I did, it was very lightly. Most of the knocking and prep was done either with old balls or in gentler match conditions without big hitting. A year had gone by with very light use before one day in nets (beginning of current season) I felt this bat was pinging beautifully. I haven't looked back since. It sounds beautifully and a clean hit results in long sixes. It is Blitz shaped and has the longest sweet spot I have on a bat.
So, in a nutshell, it went thru a long prep period. I don't know if it was ready sooner than I realized it was ready.
But...it was worth the wait.
