If i were u i wouldnt place unrealistic requests like that. Cause the thing is they're achievable. And the result is not something u would like. Maybe at first but u will regret it later. I paid a good penny to get the Ca dragon 50mm version specially made for myself from the Ca factory and they managed to get one made for me that weighed only 2lb8oz fully dressed. Yes 50mm edges barely any aoncaving and 2lb8oz! The problem was it was dried out excessively to achieve that weight and didnt last 6 months even with repairs every other game. U cant tell that its dried out when its new. Its only when u start to use it that u realize and by then it is too late to return it.
If u ask for unrealistic specs they will achieve them but u wont like the results. Trust me!

In my view, this is one of the best posts of the year! You can't expect a magical bat that defies  laws of physics, it just doesn't happen!

On the other hand, if you want a standard size bat that is going to perform like a mofo, look no further than a Keeley bat. But if you must experiment and have cash on hand, Kranzbuhler can do it for you.

This thread proves my point that ordering bats online, even custom made bats, is a crap shoot. You are better off going with someone who's well-known for consistent quality (like Keeley) or having someone hand pick a lovely stick matching your specs.

If experience and wasted money has tought me something, it is that specs matter jack in the quality of the bat. My current bats are an SS master 500 butterfly that costed me 60gbp and a BB B4 LE that costed me 250gbp. Both of them have 35-36mm edges and 60-61mm spine with minimal concaving. Neither of them look particularly amazing either and both have 7-8 grains. And both of them are absolute beats!! Better than any 45-50mm monster sized bats i have wasted my money on. I love them so much now that i have been able to resist the urge to buy another bat for nearly 8 months now

Simpler answer... “grams”
Ohh yes Asians bats 101. Always ask the weight in grams. One thing i love about crown cricketer, each bat is individually marked with its weight in grams and that makes it super convenient for u as a customer to shortlist the bats u want

Sorry but I  call BS on a top grade bat posted for 150 dollars. Just doesn't add up... that bat picked by your friend looks grade 3 if that... sorry to delve into the whole grading thing... even if there were less grains... I'd expect them to be parallel. If AS are selling that as top grade then I'm really disappointed with them as I always thought of them as one of the more well known established brand.

Well to be fair the pakistani currency has recently taken a big hit. I was in lahore last month and the Ca plus 15000 player edition 7 star bats were only pkr 40k which is just over 200gbp now. And those are some of the most beautiful bats i have ever seen. The kind that are all sapwood and have 12-14 ruler straight and perfectly spaced grains. So i wouldnt put it past some of the other smaller brands to offer their best bats for maybe even less than that. Just back in feb my teammate bought an HS41 for 35k which now is less than 190gbp. The prices havent increased. The currency has taken a hit hence everything is cheaper now

Yes but tell me honestly that you think that bat is grade 1? Also they have to ship the clefts from the UK to Pakistan in the first place.

However yes i agree. The bat shown in pics doesnt look like a grade 1 bat at all. Grade 3 at best. If this bat was purchased from pakistan for 150$ then im afraid the customer was ripped off bad. These kinda bats are all over the market for less than pkr 10k

Clefts are inexpensive and labor is very cheap in pakistan. And like i said the currency has taken a hit. A common man there cant afford the best bat that costs 40k. But when u convert them into gbp it looks like peanuts

Bat grading based on "ruler straight grains" is a scam to rip off gullible customers. JS Wright has a total monopoly on the willow business and they and their buyers (bat makers and sellers) charge outrageous prices of bats made from clefts that don't cost more than USD 100. Customers also should share the blame where they blindly pay such high prices and demand NO standardization from bat makers.

You think we'd be having this discussion if bats were made to industry wide standards.

Do agree but in this case it's not like people can be swayed to if I this g1 or g2... it's being sold as their top end bat!

Sorry but in the last 15 years of dealing with AS, this was my first EVER bad experience.

We all have different opinions and experiences and everyone commenting here is right in their perception.

The only main thing is the "pick and feel" of the bat that you can't really test in buying online bat.

So far as the weight goes, now a days, buyers simply ask the seller to put it on a scale and take a pic, before finalizing the sale. So that's not really something that should be a bother point. But yes, I got a bad experience due to trust developed over the years. I am still digging down and in contact with AS to figure out what happened?

But again for a $150? I don't think I would have any problem in getting my money back so the risk is minimum in dealing with this kind of price and getting this size of bat. But I think I will struggle to resell a Keely bat (If I don't like it) for £400. My two cents.
