Sweaty hands / bat slipping , help needed
« on: September 27, 2018, 10:54:00 AM »

Hi lads,
So i am a big fan of chevrons but unfortunately as soon as i am in batting for a bit longer and my hands become sweaty, i tend to lose control and my hands keep losing grip on chevrons.
Please recommend me the best grip that will not let my hands go when my hands and gloves are sweaty.
I am uaing GN vocity gloves with pittard palms.
I only like to have one grio too.
So please help me with the best grip for control when my hands are sweaty and the one which is not too hard on gloves too.
Thanks

Yes i have and the problem is it makes my grip a tad nore thicker which alters my control. I like the feeing of bare handa and gloves.

I personally love chevrons for feel on the bat but grew to really dislike Pittards palms. They feel great when new but don't seem to handle sweat well when overloaded and I felt the same slippery lack of control. Gloves with sheep skin palms like BAS Player Edition don't seem to have the same issue and cured the slipping for me.
So the culprits could be the pittards ?
I have brand new pair of robinsons sheep skin gloves, will try them in nets to see how they go.
I also have a ripple grip lying around, will try to use that to see if it helps.

shake some talc powder into the gloves    or boots used to do a gel that you rubbed into your hands similar to what the javelin pole volters etc use

I have a similar problem with sweaty hands.  I find using the GN Legend gloves with the gripster pittard palms along with an octopus grip on the bat handle to be the best option to minimise the bat slipping

Another option is to get out cheaply before having the chance to sweat!  ;)

For sweaty palms, I find almost anything other than chevrons or octopus grip work just fine - currently using either scale grip or rippel wave grip or ribbed grip. Chevrons are too slippery for sweaty palms.  I also carry 2-3 pairs of gloves and change them after 10-15 overs whenever there is a break. Had no issues with slippery since. Also even if you play longer innings, you don't have to carry large number of gloves, you can reuse the first set of gloves after the second set if needed as they will most likely dry out when not in use.

Or put talcum powder on your hands  to stop them becoming sweaty

I sweat quite a bit and end up changing gloves after 10 overs. I don't like wearing inners but wouldn't inners warm-up your hands because of the additional layer and heat your hands further?

My solution to sweaty hands is keeping multiple pairs of gloves.

I have now changed my chevron grips to ripples now, also using GN gloves worh gripster pittards now.
Any ideas if talcum powder works? And does it have any disadvantages ?

Talc powder usually works as it is made from a mineral called Talc which absorbs moisture and reduces friction.

The inners will absorb the sweat and prevent the gloves from losing grip or getting wet

Anti-perspirant will also work on your hands

But would not i feel the powder on my hands when gripping the bat?
As talc podwer when applied makes the skin a bit smoother.
