On the kinda of pitch Bairstow being injured was a big problem

TC bowls slower balls, yes.

Different type of bowler, different action, different personality, different levels of consistency...

Can't remember how he was wearing his hair last time I saw him.

TBH Bairstow only started struggling once he broke his finger. His form before the injury was outstanding

Bairstow has over 1,000 ODI runs this year. So the criticism is a bit unwarranted.

Ha ha, this thread is sawing all those tall poppies down - what a fickle bunch we are!

So the ball moved a bit - that happens about 10% of the time in ODI's, and all these batters and bowlers we are critiqueing, there aren't better alternatives. It sounds like some of you want Chris Tavare to open in ODI's in case one ball seams a bit!

These tonkers and slower-ball experimentalists are what you get when you try to play the high-octane brand of ODI we like. No one complains when we batter 390, but it is going to fail sometimes.

The simple fact is that those changes to the team were needed. They need to find out about players before the world cup (especially the bowlers) in case anyone gets injured etc... and also the middle order hadn't hit a ball in SL yet because of the rain! Morgan stated he didn't play because Buttler needs captaincy experience in case he is injured.

And too be honest even in getting hammered they would have found out quite alot about the players they brought in.

Just going to use this thread forvthe one off T20I...

Sri Lanka won the toss and are bowling, mainly due to forecast of rain, unsurprisingly!

Denly makes his debut (again) in the middle order with Root rested.

For all the GM badgers.... interestingly there was a segment with Nasser, Key and Ward in the nets and they were using a brand new GM Diamond with Red Bull sponsor sticker on the back.... Stokes new bat I reckon.
