Good morning all, so on this cold and wet morning i took delivery of my new for 2019 GM Mythos bat. I ordered from Rob
@Six Sixes Cricket and the service and delivery time was superb as always.
So on to the bat, you may have seen this on the stock photos Rob shared with last week. I was originally undecided between the Mythos and the Noir and then even more so when i saw the 50/50 heartwood Noir and this Mythos as both stunning bats. Any was last year was the first year i used a shorter blade in the Neon and really got on well with it and found i had more power in my shots and that I didn’t actually notice the shorter blade until i had been netting with it a few weeks after first buying a Neon, so i have stayed with the Shorter blade option, also the shape with the slightly higher swell position to the Noir convinced me. I think i made the right decision.
The bat has 10 grains that are almost ruler straight and are mirrored on the back of the blade as well, certainly another example of the Signature being one of the best value for money options on the market today. 32mm edges and over 60mm spine with a lovely thicker oval handle, the best handles i have ever come across in terms of size, shape and consistency have been the gM handles, not a fan or the terrain grip but that will easily be changed. Now similar to the Mana last year the toe is thinner and a duck bill shape leading to the big swell in the middle. Performance with an old ball is good but this does have a slighter firmer feel on first impressions but i personally have always found that after 2/3 net sessions my last 4 GM’s have all opened up superbly and have no doubt this will be the same, Remember it has been confirmed that the lower end GM bats from 808 down are pressed slightly differently to higher grades but for the money its a small price too pay exotically if your have the time, patience etc to knock or and get your bat match ready. Personally preference only but no matter how much I spent or how high a grade iv never done well just taking out a brand new bat to a match takes a while to get used to it and trust it i feel.
The one change and only downside for me is that there is absolutely no bow in the Mythos what so ever its dead straight not even a slight camber, not sure if this will have any impact on my game so will have to wait and see but overall very impressed with the Mythos
