This is from a nation that has just fulfilled a Facebook campaign to boo Mitchell March at Melbourne purely for the crime of being selected

Lost any remaining sympathy and respect for Bancroft after that.

All that nonsense about him having been in the same position if he’d said no to Warner.

An adult and pro sportsman shouldn’t have to use the bigger boys did it excuse.

"But the really, really interesting thing...I've asked myself this question a lot. If I had said 'no', what would that have meant? And the thing that I've inquired and thought about so often is that if I actually said 'no', and I went to bed that night, I had the exact same problem. I had some the problem that I had using the sandpaper on the cricket ball”

This is all just PR BS yet again. They all knew what was going on and had enough chances to say no. They didn’t. There are no excuses for cheating other than you want to.

This is just a PR exercise by Cricket Australia to get them all accepted by the masses. Warner will keep quiet and serve his time, say sorry and come back in for the ashes.

Sadly, half of people will happily let them get away with this stuff and the sad reality is, they don’t care, don’t think they’ve done anything that wrong, won’t acceot any responsibility and will do it or at least know their teams are doing it again.

That is the real shame in all this.. this hasn’t stopped teams doing it and won’t stop these players doing it again

I don’t care if Warner threatened him you don’t throw someone under the bus. He should have just said he chose do it and that is that. Only person I have sympathy for is Steve smith he didn’t plan it, but he shouldn’t have looked the other way.

How?

Because he’s trying to say it’s Warner’s fault. He told him and had a choice, if he wanted to do it and chose to do it. Now he needs to accept take responsibility without trying to deflect.

Whether we believe Bancroft or not it is an interesting interview.

What really concerns me is the fact that they lied on multiple occasions about the incident yet are being portrayed as having come clean, which they only did when they literally had no choice.

Bancroft effectively lied by trying to hide the sandpaper down his trousers when it was pointed out to him that he had been seen using it and with it in his pocket. He then tried to tell the umpires it was his sunglasses cloth (or at least that is what it looks like on film). And finally they tell the media and world at large that it was tape rather than sandpaper (and yes, Cameron, you are right that either way you took it on the field with the intent to tamper with the ball so why lie about it again).

Personally I think they all got off lightly (although weirdly I would like to see them all play again at some point as I think everyone deserves a second chance). It may well be the case that others do it, but like all things, if you break the rules and get caught you have to face the consequences and these should be significant enough to act as a punishment and a deterrent.

Be good to see Bancroft and Smith again

For some reason Warner is just a nasty guy even before this event happened so don't wanna see him again .

Yes, the whole Nation, all 25 million, signed up to that Facebook page and they all showed up and booed him. I too enjoy assuming the worst about a large group of people because of the actions of a minute few.

Warner Sealed his own fate by not standing up with his brothers and facing all the heat that came with what they did, Smith and Bancroft have in part (PR bs or not) come out and claimed their responsibilities in regards to what happened, where has David Warner been? In reality nobody actually knows what really happened but I suspect if the things that Smith and Bancroft had been claiming about Warner and the events of that day were untrue, then Warner would have launched some sort of legal action or made his story known.

My opinion isnt just based on this booing incident.

But why anyone would want to pay to go to a cricket match and then boo someone representing the country they support is baffling. Not sure what Marshes crime is really. Be interesting to see what reaction the sandpaper cheats get

Smith and Bancroft have thrown warner under the bus recently but I guess when you’ve done what warner has done it was always going to happen. It begs the question just how many more times had this happened? Seems more and more an unlikely one off, particularly with suspicions before this game

I wonder whether the Aussie public will warm to Warner from this, does the Aussie mentality (especially in sport) rank cheaters higher than a grass?

Bancroft is a fully grown man in his mid20s.  I am not sure his "David told me to do it" excuse brings much credit on him at all.
