Hi all, Iv managed to get a few nets in over the last few weeks and thought I would do a few reviews of my bats having now used them and I’ll start with this GM Noir.
So this was from Six Sixes and I always regretted selling my GM Chrome which was my match bat in the 2017 season so jumped over this model when released.
So this is the G2 Signature and as you can see has a clean blemish free blade with fairly straight and even grains with a mid/low middle and I think the biggest edges in the GM range these are 38mm edges.
So I took straight into the nets and have only used against bola balls Iv probably had about 90mins use with this and from the start performance was very good. The middle is long and for a mid/low profile extends a long way up the blade. The bat is 2.10 plus change and pick up wise it certainly feels it’s weight even with the thick handle and thick terrain grip. I wouldn’t say it’s bottom heavy just has a solid feel in the hands if that makes sense.
Personally I feel this bat has real punch when you find the middle as all the wood is in the middle with wood taken from the toe and shoulders to give an extended swell, a bit like a L&W ultra shape but not quite as pronounced.
Edges are well rounded and bat comes with what are in my opinion the best toe guards in the industry so really is all set to be used.
Pressing wise GM are certainly much improved from say 3/4 years ago but they still require some soft ball net time in my opinion espically if like me you face the new ball each week, they don’t have a soft feel from the off but not hard either it’s kind of an inbetween from my view. Saying that anything out the middle is crunched and I’m very impressed with the power generated by the buldge in the sweep spot.
Only disappointing aspect was the Noir grip it ripped in about the 1st 5 mins on use and another I bought didn’t last much longer and I have never had this issue on any other bat so have replaced with last years slightly thinner in my mind terrain grip. Anyway enough of my waffle here are a few pics
