Excellent JT, proper coaching really does pay off. late on(around 40 too) as overseas coach we had told me to put the bat in between my feet, like KP did, this would cure a consistent fault of over balancing to the off side-and hit a 1000 balls this way.
This did not work and I was back to square 1, a good two seasons of fixing it myself and now the stance and balance is ok, I did this watching you tube videos of Mark Ramprakash-set up and stance.
I have the satisfaction of doing it myself without a coach and I'm pleased I did this.
However, the chances are a good coach would spot the weakness and know how to correct it, it took me a long time to get it right, old faults still crop up but if they do its back to nets to work on the things I know will work for me.
There's no doubt good coaching is beneficial for club players, and you're never too old to improve your game.
Set up and stance is a massive part of batting and sometimes small observations will work.
