I'm excited to see what they launch, but I can't help but feel it will be a bit late for the 2019 season

Thumb claw, wrist bar, meta shield and profoams in the tags. Going to be disappointed if it's yet another pair of cane fronted pads!

Are the patents pending likely to get approved?

Shame. After the build up i was expecting something a little different. Doesn't look bad, but certainly no revolution!

Looks like they're releasing something to protect those, too...

It’s a IPR protection tactic, you can file and choose to pursue them once you’ve got a patent app number. The real costs come when you have to approve a prior art search which digs through previous apps and tells you in you have anything novel to actually patent.

GM did simailr pads and gloves previous in conjunction with D3O rather than Poron XRD, however not many people get severely injured getting hit on the pad nowadays. Gloves had their issues which was why I did my dissertation on them back in 2004 and why I’m in the cricket business still now for my sins.

:D The thigh pads look ok if thinner than usual. That's about all I can say that's positive tho really. All seen before.

I quite like the look of the thigh pads though

The thumb bit on the gloves looks kind of interesting... um .... no that's it :)
Oh, the innovation!
